I love a redemption arc. It's why, despite knowing deep down it will never happen, I keep rooting for Timo when he's on.

It's interesting game theory to consider that the club have far more leverage to buy a new LB right now while they have Reggie on the books than if they didn't and we were "forced" to spend. A smart manager would anticipate these needs in advance, be ahead of the market in terms of preparedness and seize this moment to drive a good deal. I unfortunately don't get the sense that we have really been caught up enough on our business lately to really do much of that, at least when it comes to filling out the final pieces of a complete roster.

If it really is just a matter of moving dead wages out, the club could at least do a little more to make it look like our outcasts have potentially something to offer to a professional footballing club. In the sense of trying to "sell our book" I'd give Spurs about a 2/10 lately- we're doing almost nothing to try and make our outcasts salable, almost all of it seemingly by chance.

Such as?

I mean..........

- Reg (38m) had 3 loans to shop window himself.
- Richarlison (60m) just can't stay fit and also went public with his mental struggles......
- Ditto Sessengon's (28m) fitness.
- Despite having a good run in the CL with Villareal; Lo Celso (40m) has felt like he was purposely winding his deal down for last last 3/4 years.
- Ndombele (60m) was just a lazy cunt.

..........Winks, Skipp, Rodon & Emerson we got reasonable fees for.

The problem with the level of players we seek to bin off is that unless you are selling domestically; there is no money in that market (be that fees or even just the ability to match wages)........ Hell; Genoa wouldn't (couldn't) even muster 2m euro for Spence....... Thankfully.... (Right, Ange?)

I wouldn’t even say lately, it’s seemed like that for about 15 years. Our moving on of players is terrible.

I like Reggie but this just shows yet another contradiction from our manager.
I wonder if there's any chance he might contradict himself by playing tactically at some point.

All I’ll say for him today is he cares.

He tried to get the crowd up today, he played with heart and he gave it his all. I know, I know, overall he’s likely not good enough for where we want to be, but we have players who start most weeks who look like they don’t care what the result is, so to be loaned out, then come back and warm the bench with no hope of getting on until we have a mass of injuries, and then play with a bit of heart, some guts and show you care about the result - fair play to him.

Always liked his technique. Unbelievably slick for a player in his position. A bit Alonso-esque although not quite the same quality. But he played really well today. A few wow moments, who's that guy? Been so long without him playing but he's got style and is a threat on the left.

Have you noticed how the gems are only unearthed after we have lost the entire teams to injuries?

With Spence it was the same. It's almost as if Ange is not capable of seeing when a guy has talent. So it's safer for him to only stick with certain players and never give anyone else a chance. If they get injured, then it's not his fault anymore. Funny approach by a so called world class manager.

Still not quite sure why he ended up being the forgotten man (other than I do remember him getting caught under the ball with crosses a fair bit) - was one of Jose's high performers. Definitely still a player in there and at the very least an able back up. What is concerning from a club POV is they've wanted to shift him for the best part of 2 years and here he is playing in the PL for us - again

He will never be good enough for a top team as he just charges around mindlessly, but in this terrible moment he can at least provide us with some energy.

The contrast between the knackered players whose legs Ange has destroyed and the players who have come in from the cold like Spence, Reguilon and Bergvall, is blindingly obvious.

Some times a team needs a pace setter in terms of commitment.
