Lets jest in losing friendlies when we all know we would have loved to have wiped the floor of them all. Never liked losing any game regardless of importance?

Say that all you want, I rarely watch pre season friendlies for precisely the reason that they are pointless. I remember back in 2008 when we swept aside Roma 5-0 and everyone said we were going to have a great season. Then we proceeded to go on the infamous two points in eight games run.

The mentality is different. The players are not as fit. Games are often dependant on who has returned to the squad, who is new and so on. Plus this whole "tournament" is just a shameless exercise in trying to promote Premier League and European football to the Yanks. It's not like winning the tournament is of any value.

Took a little guess on who'd be posting in a fucking pathetically titled thread suitable for toddlers. I weren't far wrong
I'll leave you guys to it

Pre-season is a money spinner now for the big clubs. We're just catching up.

If we cared about winning, we'd start smashing the likes of Leyton Orient and Stevenage again.

Ask your mum mate, although she may not remember, the queue for "free rimjobs" was quite long.

Rattled.

All goofs and japes aside, I do feel pretty worried about this coming season. We were always punching above our weight for the last two seasons and benefiting from a few of the usual suspects not being at their best. It is highly unlikely that the two Manc clubs will under-perform so badly again, as they continue to throw around silly money. And Chelsea will be right up there with them, defending their title; and then there is the Arse and Pool, plus the newly moneyed Everton. So the way things look right now, even keeping our place in the top 4 seems a really really difficult prospect. Of course with football you never know what's gonna happen once you are deep into the season and everything is settled down, but it is hard for me to feel too optimistic right this moment.

Heard the same last year. Nothing is guaranteed for any club.

Been hearing it the last 2 years mate.

Two years ago, played 3 friendlies, lost to MLS all stars and Real Madrid and then beat AC Milan. Failed to win our first four league games only to then end up fighting for the title and finishing in our best ever position in 30+ years.

Last season we lost to Juve and Atletico in pre-season. "left all of our business late" only to be 6 points clear of the eventual league winners after the first two months as well as making our best start to a league season in 40+ years, breaking numerous records and finishing 2nd.

The only thing people should genuinely be moaning about is the fact we aren't at White Hart Lane anymore.
