Match Sheff Utd vs Yid Army FA Cup Wed 1 March 2023

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The only one consolation that I can offer to fellow Spurs fans is …

… I’m never going to start a match thread again.

Frankly, right now, I wish I’d never got into this stupid kicky ball thing in the first place.

:mourweird:

Oh shit
sorry - I hadn't realised that if you gave an opinion
it simply becomes a fact

that team was better than the current one - "my opinion"
it would beat the current one - "my opinion"

my opinions aren't facts - only yours are apparently
Stats are stats, you changed your "opinion" somewhat after Starks Starks posted the league form. You retorted with "yeah no Kane". When he did play some of those.

You opinion is no more valid than mine. But you said that that team was better than ours, when we are in currently better form than at the same point in 2019. You then made an excuse when it was shown you were mistaken.

absolute rubbish - Dier was the best player on the pitch for us
it was Sanchez that was more bothered about keeping his arms behind him, and just being part of the furniture. He literally didn't bother to move/tackle. He's as thick as they come. You don't need to worry about your arms if the player is only 1m away. Just get a leg in. The commentators were waxing lyrical about the dribbling, but it was like someone going around cones in training.

It has nothing to do with opinion.
It is solid fact that for Wales he has been playing in LCB role in back 3 for years.

You can like it, you can hate it.

For Spurs, since Conte took over he has been playing as LCB. For 1 year and 4 months.
Under Conte this has been his main position.

Few games ago he was put on LWB duty which is totally new for him, so less natural position to him.

These are black-and-white facts.
I'll agree that predominantly he plays LCB for wales. That's irrefutable. He has spent the MAJORITY of his Spurs time (and Swansea) as a LB or LWB. That's a *checks notes* black and white fact.

If you´re bad, you´re bad, no cure for that! A LOT of our squad needs to go
Yes, absolutely. When I said they 'never learn', I meant that, in common with many others here, I can see that they should START the game with the strong team, not bring some of them on when it's too late.

We GAVE that game to Sheffield. Our tactics handed it to them. It was a completely unnecessary loss and it happens too often.

It's likely the top with the targets set at the start of the season, if it's not it's the players and manger not taking it seriously. If that's the case, then like Man U, the threat of extra work, or punishment is sometimes a motivation. For us fans there is no excuse, for the players, the just didn't look like they needed it.
So you think the players didn't play well because the FA Cup isn't a top target for Levy?

I wasn't mistaken - apart from misunderstanding what he was trying to say - which I apologised for.
Because I was stating my opinion which I know with certainty to be mine, because I was there when I typed it.

and I haven't changed my opinion, the pre european cup team was better than the current one

W

Harry is gone, he's entering the last year of his contract the club can't afford for him to run his contract down and leave for free and will cash in this summer, he will end up at Man Utd or in Germany it's already a done deal.

Harry cant afford to waste another year of his career at a club with no ambition.

And I don't blame him
don't see it. The money we will want, and the fact he is already ageing and dropping back means there will be less suitors.

We'll offer him 3 years on a decent wedge, with a one year option that he won't get anywhere else.

but... i'm usually wrong

Some are blaming Levy.
That is their right I guess , but as someone who cannot abide him I cannot agree. Players and manager to blame , they should not be allowed to hide behind punch bag Levy. There is so much blame that can be attached to Levy for our lack of success , no need to conflate it with a gutless , lazy, embarrassing performance by our supposedly professional (LOL) players and manager

I think the goals of the season are set out early on and the players know what these are. I also think the players don't have much love for it, and it's reinforced by the attitude in the club that it's a nice to have but not the focus.

So is it Levy's fault they didn't try? No
Is it Levy's fault they maybe don't think it's as important as other competitions? = Yes

End result = Apathy

and i'm not sure that has ever achieved anything in life.

An argument can be made that our 2nd string isn't good enough.

The fact that we don't rotate at all , unless forced to by injuries doesn't help, meaning players are not match fit and won't play with the same intensity doesn't help.

Not sure if this has been posted yet

Absolutely spot on, arrogant is the word. We should have lined up like it was the cup final and got the job done but instead we had Lucas Moura playing like it was 2018.

I agree, but ALL teams rest players for the cup.

Including Sheffield United
I've thought about it and I'm not blaming Levy for last nights embarrassing failure but I think in general he's had plenty of time to win something meaningful.

I don't care about the carting track, golf course, concerts etc.... the money is meant to be going back into the football team or to help pay off the stadium debt I assume.

I can only recall the Man City game when we played a good 90 minutes so far this season. We needed to upgrade the defence as soon as Conte was appointed (at the next available opportunity).

It looks like we might have to replace Son and Kane both in the summer now, as well as upgrading the defence. If we want to win anything next season it's going to take a lot more than just bringing back Poch, or we will sink down to mid table mediocrity.

I get it that we want to be in the top four, but it's not really a victory is it?
