Just a young man shouting at clouds here, and I think Ange will last the season with our up and down form - we're still very much in it, though today was properly shite.

Looking ahead to who does replace him - decent candidates with PL experience are De Zerbi, Iraola, Frank, maybe McKenna, perhaps even Potter as an outside bet. I'm sure there are good people in leagues I know nothing about.

Whoever comes in will need to be a type to make a team more than the sum of its parts, assuming Levy/ENIC are still here, that's the vital thing.
I think so many fans are anti levy that they'll just want the next manager to fail to! Hard to know who to trust on this thread. Some rotten agendas on here

Might as well get Joe Biden or Liz Truss in. We could have Pep and we’d still fail. Club is rotten to the core. Cozy. Entitled. Privileged. Protected. And lazy. The TC bubble needs bursting.

Frank is probably the best we could secure at this point. Out of the Poch mold, a manager doing an excellent job maxing out the potential of a lower tier club who will want to get out while the iron is hot.

We're also seemingly the best likely option, as all the other clubs you could say were "better" options don't look likely to be appointing a new manager in the near term.

The problem, of course, is we've spent the Kane fee on Johnson and Odobert. It's not going to be attractive to cast them both off as you have in your lineup.

Frank plays a 343 so in that system you could utilise all of our wide forwards. The squad now (depth/1st XI issues aside) is very versatile and could play a number of systems.

With Odobert he could potentially be converted into a wing back or as we see with City and some of the European sides, playing one natural wing back and one winger (in a wing back position) can work but that’s subject to having sufficient quality in your 3 centre backs and central midfield.

This poor guy has just got out of one shit show! He’s probably not ready for the sort of shit Spurs would bring him lol.

I think very highly of Frank but I can't even begin to understand why anyone would think we have the defenders to defend the actual box in a low or mid-low block at the moment. Have you not watched us this season?

I'm so depressed at the state of our defending. VDV and Cuti are great chasing someone down but they can't stand anyone up to save their lives... And the less said about Porro's defending...

Fuck me. I'd prefer the suicidal highline over trying to get these guys to soak up pressure

Playing 343 / similar doesn’t mean you have to play counter attacking football or sit deep… you can actually push further up the pitch like we saw with Pochettino. The issue with the system defensively, is we only have 3 senior centre backs. Davies can play there and gives his all but he’s neither quick or aerially dominant and likely to leave next summer.

We definitely do not have the roster to play a back three, and we just spent the last season and a half re-tooling our roster towards a back 4 style setup.

I do like Thomas Frank but I'm not really interested to go to a back 3.

That's true but I was talking about Thomas Frank and you only need to watch the Brentford Fulham game to see how that works.

We can only dream about the Poch defence. I look at our Back four and think they should be able to get to those levels but days like today - indeed months like the past months - I despair. Porro, Cuti, VDV and Udogie just can't seem to defend either as individuals or a collective. The high line has protected them from their defensive failings (or given them an excuse).

The only silver lining is that we shipped goals under Poch until it finally clicked.

The high line has exposed their frailties as individual defenders, and especially so when constantly playing in "all-hands-on-deck" type situations. It's horrific tactics- I know we'll have to agree to disagree on that but I need to say it again since you keep posting how terrible our defenders are. I don't think they are, or they are capable of much better, but the coach and tactics are all wrong.

I wonder how Zidane would do at Spurs to be honest. Probably like Ancelotti at Everton. It doesn't matter what manager we get in though.

I’m sure I heard ZZ refused to learn English when previously linked with Manure? Would be a bloody big issue lol

I get the argument of changing the manager doesn’t resolve anything while ENIC are in charge but that’s also like saying since we don’t sign stars, we’ll never achieve anything or progress. Now I’m not on about clubs lack of silverware here. We’ve signed promising players who weren’t ‘stars’ and we would never have thought Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Walker etc would have gone on to become some of the best in Europe. My point is, although we haven’t had much luck with managers post Pochettino, it doesn’t mean every new manager will fail.

Squad wise - there’s clear issues but whereas Jose and Conte needed players for a 343 and we didn’t provide them, Ange now has a squad that is very versatile. The issue with Ange is his tactics are crazy, he doesn’t play to his players strengths, he exposes their flaws and he’s beyond stubborn amongst other things.

There are managers out there who will get much more out of our current squad than we’re currently seeing with Ange.

We’ve 3 attack minded wing backs in Porro, Spence and Udogie who are being shoehorned into full back positions and then when they do get forward they spend most of their time tucking in and offering bugger all offensively.

Sarr, Bissouma and Bentancur are a decent trio of central midfielders and they’re supported by Gray and Bergvall. Yet we don’t play to their strengths.

Maddison can be very creative but the experiment with both him and Kulu didn’t work and also by tucking in Udogie and Porro, he has very little space to work in.

Solanke excels at holding the ball yet we rarely ever go long or look to pick him out with crosses.

Son’s a serious goal threat yet he’s sent to hug to the touchline.

There’s obviously other decent players in our squad but the above are just some examples of how we’re not playing to our strengths.

I think they realize the system is insane and is just not going to work in any real competitive league.

The system is not that different from

if you can show me a single goal from Brighton, Palace or Ipswich games that was due to anything other than our defenders not defending well I'll agree with you.

But as all those goals were shipped from normal defensive situations around our 12 years box (not a high line breach or fullbacks caught out of position through "tactics") I just think the issue is not as simple as you do.

We score more than enough goals - it's time for the defenders to do their fucking jobs
