So if it’s not a handball why did we get a free kick?

Poor decision to give anything there.

However once he judges it’s a yellow card then he has to decide if it meets this criterion:

« handles the ball to interfere with or stop a promising attack, except where the referee awards a penalty kick for a non-deliberate handball offence »

If the handling happened to interfere with or stop a promising attack then the referee should show a yellow and he should be sent off.

That would have been an injustice because it wasn’t a handball offence at all.

There appears to be a belief that results will all of a sudden turn from losses into wins once two centre halfs and a goalkeeper returns to the fold.

We pretty much had a starting midfield and forward line on the pitch at some stage today.

I didn't see a likely draw coming along, let alone a win.

Before the injuries, our form was really not that much better.
Bookmark this. Because it's isolated the logical fallacy at the heart of the injuries narrative. Because the coaching ethos lack of emphasis on defensive stability we were still giving up the big chances that turned wins in to draws and draws defeats. The return of a rusty Romero and Vic and VDV is not some some magic bullet.

Archie is going to be some kind of player if he stays humble and continues to work hard. He has something that can’t be taught or trained.
I’ll be honest I’m not getting the hype. Think the timing and choice of his passing has put us into trouble over the last few weeks. Far too many hospital passes into players which either leads to turnovers close to our goal or longer percentage balls. He’s also played people on side for most of the goals conceded the last month

Obviously not writing him off as he’s clearly not a CB but it’s not a sure thing that he’s going to be a midfielder either. Only played a handful of professional games there. Bergvall looks a far bigger talent to me and quarter of the price

We can agree to disagree , I do agree with you though that we can’t blame these decisions for our loss today or our current form.

Seen in isolation and considering the factors coming into this game Spurs did not do that bad really.
Playing a 3rd choice goalie who's never played in the EPL and not played a "professional" game since his time with Orlando in 2021.
Having all the 3 best CB out injured.
Playing a RB, who's not played in the EPL until a few weeks ago, at LB and then switching him to CB...because...
The 4th choice CB got injured.
Playing an 18 years old CM at CB (again).
Many of the players had flue symptoms before the game.
And a ref who gave Toons a blatant handball goal away and should have sent off one of their players and had a penalty for another Toon handball.

As I was expecting a tonking, I suppose I have to be grateful that it wasn't. In fact I'm probably pissed off that we didn't get at least a point from the game.
I thought we played well considering the team that was out there, especially second half.
The ref was so bad that even one of my friends, who is an ex-ref and never criticizes the officials, said he was awful.
Thought Lucas had a great game, made a few errors, but more than made up for it by putting in some excellent forward balls and was unlucky to be substituted (maybe that's a nod to Wednesday's game), and it wasn't a popular decision.
When Drag didn't come out for the second half, I thought that was curtains, but Spence and Archie did an amazing job.
Sonny looked good when he came on, more evidence that he is not a 90 minute player any more and is more effective as an impact sub.
So, in a nutshell, good performance in the circumstances but another defeat that isn't helping our league position.
PS - hate how teams are allowed to feign injury and slow the game down; time we took out a leaf out of rugby's book and played around players who go down, that'll soon get them back up on their feet.

Why the PL doesn't do anything about the timewasting I'll never know. Playing the extra time doesn't help anyone and they just waste time in the time added on. The people administrating and officiating this league have destroyed it.

Soif the ref (like everyone else) sees that as a handball then by the laws he should send Burn off?
