Match Spurs v Bodo/Glimt (A) - Champions League - Tues 30th Sept - KO: 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

But they weren't losses... because of the effort the players put in for him, never giving up and constantly probing till the last second.

Which tells you he has started by instilling huge resilience in the players and that can dig us out of holes if we're sub-standard on the day, and they have total faith in him and want to give everything for him.

It's a key attribute to develop and you should be thankful he's done it from the off and can now build upon it layer by layer.

All those wishing this ends badly are going to be disappointed.
A draw is still two points dropped. Not exactly something to celebrate, especially when you're playing weaker opposition.

We're so lucky to have your insight, brave seer.

awfully good of him to detach his head from his own arse long enough to grace us with that insight.

It just shows that Bodo is a difficult place to go, it was last season in the EL and it is this season in the CL.

We did really well to contain them so well last season

Not really, not where you're concerned.
You don't seem to have the ability to accept what you are told about your limitations. I can only tell you what I discern from your posts, your opinions and the way you interpret information you have available to you.
It's not a good picture.
See, there you go again. Telling people, you’re shit, I’m better than you. I have a better understanding than you..

Why do you feel this pressing need to judge and correct others? Does being condescending and arrogant give you a sense of superiority that replaces your physical decline?

Is this a productive way to spend your last years on our planet? I doubt it.

Bodo were clearly motivated to beating us after getting knocked out of the Euro semis last year and fair dues to them.
Once again they demonstrated that nobody should be underestimated, especially on their home turf!

After a strong start, he's clearly struggling. Last year it was all about injured players - Ange was the real problem. Frank has to prove he can turn this around without our strongest squad. If he can't, he's not top-tier.
"turn around" 4th in the league and 4 points from 6 in the CL.

Shit like this is why I hate the internet and twatter/X in particular, online "personalities" have been spewing their servile "hot takes" for attention for so fucking long it has leaked into broadcasting and football discourse in general. We are not blowing away every team 8-0 and Xavi and Kudus aren't flanking our wings to the same standard as prime Bale and Ronaldo so therefore the manager is a fraud and the project is a failure.

It's such a transparent attempt to be able to say "I told you so" in 6 months time if things go shitbang, and due to the temporary nature of managers in football you are sure to be able to say it eventually if you hang on long enough.

You don't sound so sure yourself. I might already be proven right in six months - though I don't think it'll take that long. The table could look very different in a month or two. It's far too early to be talking about Frank's “success.”

I genuinely can acknowledge that we have been a hard watch on multiple occasions this season but utter fucking hyperbole like this makes it hard to take you very seriously. "should be winning" all but our game vs City I assume, last time we won at West Ham was Nov 2019 under José, Brighton did the double over us last season and went and turned over Chelsea away 3-1 a week later, you may not like what you're watching and that's perfectly valid, but claiming there's "not a hint of cohesive football" on display from a team with 1 loss from 9 games, 3 of which were 3-0 wins, just makes you sound like a petulant child.

You ask "what are we seeing now", you are seeing a man accumulating successful results, improving defensive stability as a solid base to work on attacking cohesion when, you know, our only good strikers aren't injured. Yeah I was bored watching Villarreal, I was bored tonight, I don't wish to be bored long term, I also trust that we will look much better in the attacking half of the pitch when Frank actually knows what his best midfield and attack look like and gets it playing together for a stretch of games. The experience of being expected to take the initiative of a game is something that wasn't awfully familiar to him until his last season at Brentford in certain home games so will take him some adjusting on a personal level as well.

I'll be on board if we look this shit by say Feb/March but I can't believe we haven't even got to October yet and people are fucking melting to this degree already on a new project. 1 loss for fuck sake.
Should have said we were favourite to win then. Anyway, like I said we'll revisit at the end of December. If we don't improve hugely by then, we're in deep shit. It's the toughest part of our fixture list. Like it or not, this has been a very favorable schedule so far and we've not exactly inspired. Should win was perhaps the wrong choice of words, you're correct.

1 loss is looking at the performances without context. We've been dull and flat in every one. There's nothing being knitted together. It's bad. If he turns it around and we start playing nice football and look like we have an idea of what to do, I'll happily hold up my hands and say I was worried too soon. Very much hope that's the case. I'm just struggling to see that big of an improvement. I was impressed against City, against PSG and Burnley. The rest of the games we've looked meh to poor. Even West Ham we really struggled until they fell asleep at the back post and got a red.

If you've seen good cohesive football in any of our recent games, please point it out. We don't play any nice patterns, no quick anything. It's get the ball around the middle, pass backwards and get it out wide.

You go back into the history of our teams and at a very basic level expected of a Tottenham player especially in midfield and forward areas is a level of technical quality. I'm not even talking world class levels but the ability to pass and control a ball. Heck you'd expect that from a pro. And yet I've watched a lot of teams over the past few years pop the ball around us so much better than we are able to.

I said to my dad watching the game, it reminded me of when we both went to Switzerland to watch us play Young Boys in Bern on a plastic pitch in our first ever CL match. We were 3-0 down inside the first 30 minutes. Redknapp saw it needed a level of quality in midfield. On comes Tom Huddlestone and the game changed but still wasn't enough and only lost 3-2.

I'd kill to watch Hudd passing the ball in midfield now. Football has changed so much now that with all the extra pressing teams are going for athletes instead of people with ability on the ball. Still doesn't excuse the fact that we recently have signed a bunch of players that couldn't trap a bag of cement or pass 3 yards to a teammate.

Vicario, how on gods green earth with the amount of time he spends on a training pitch not be able to kick a ball. All he needs to do is spend 20 minutes every day with a bag of footballs and practice kicking. The guy can't even get a clean contact on it. You could find a better GK who can kick on a bobbly pitch in Hackney Marshes.

I've been saying for a long time, our squads in recent years have severely lacked footballing quality. No amount of tactics from any manager will make up for that.

The lesson is... don't sack your manager early into his tenure?
I'm not saying sack him. I'm saying I'm concerned by what I've been watching over the last few weeks. I'll be delighted if he turns the attack around and we look capable of controlling a game. I'd be ecstatic actually. I like Frank, seems like a good guy, but I'm worried for things to come.

The irony is that in Ange's first season we were all marvelling at how much better on the ball Vic was compared to Lloris.
