Match Spurs v Bodo/Glimt (A) - Champions League - Tues 30th Sept - KO: 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

In sweden almost every team plays on plastic pitch and its always watered. Never been to a game when its not watered.

The reasons are:
  • Ball speed and movement: A watered synthetic surface makes the ball roll faster and more predictably, which improves the quality of play.
  • Player safety: It reduces friction burns and impact injuries from sliding tackles.
  • Surface longevity: Moistening the pitch can help with heat management, especially in sunny or warm conditions, since artificial grass can get very hot.
Lots of heat in northern Norway...

When Luton & QPR had plastic pitches in the '80s/early '90s, they both did relatively well... (in comparison to where they find themselves now)

Both were regular'ish in the old Division 1, and I genuinely wonder whether their demise was due in part to having to go back to grass pitches....?

Just an observation... Maybe it WAS and still is more of an advantage than we give it credit for....

And it’s far, far too early to be talking about his replacement!
Every hire has felt rushed, and Frank was supposed to adapt his style to our squad. Instead, it's just Brentford 2.0, which is the biggest letdown.

Last season was a horror show, sure, but that doesn't mean we can't criticise when it's clearly not working. Isn't that the whole point of a forum? After the Ange cult, the last thing we need is another one.

Is that the same crap surface the NFL play on...?

i don't want to give the lads too much of an excuse but i thought there was a big difference between us and them as far as dealing with the pitch. to me it looked like we struggled and they thrived as the bounces got away from us they seemed to use the quickness to their advantage. said it during the match, this will be a tough trip for everyone who visits
I was watching the bounce and nothing but the bounce. I couldn't see much in it tbh. I remember Redknapps Spurs turning up for Young Boys and going 3 down quickly. They looked like they were playing a different sport tbh.

I've read and seen a lot of people though since last night talking about boot grip on the surface being a bigger factor. If players can't stop or pivot like normal, their whole game goes to shit.

Did you see the bit when Spence just walked the ball our of play under no pressure?
When you looked at the pitch there was a visible crease in the surface :roflmao:

i thought they seemed to move the ball between their feet with a quickness we lacked. or they seemed to being moving and playing more instinctively while we seemed a half step slow and our passing was sloppy. that guy who scored for them looked particularly more adept with the ball at his feet and turning, etc. and i doubt he was the most technical player out of everyone under normal conditions.

i mean, we were shit. but traveling so far to play a small club with a plastic pitch could not have been very inspiring and it showed.

The first 2 I'm with you, but the third? In Norway? In Autumn, which would be like midwinter for us?

There's watering and then there's flooding. What they did was somewhere in between the two.

Well MGW is pretty shit for the money- and certainly would not add creativity.
Mbuemo has not stated well.
Frank also wanted Johnson for Forest.
And now he doesn't pick him.
MGW is exactly what we need or Rodgers from Villa.
None of the forwards picked against Bodo have been a success, nor has Solanke, who was never worth £65m. For that money I would want a regular goal scorer. We could have had Nick Wolf or Ekitete.

I get you but think we went for young players for two main reasons - wages and if they hit their expected ceiling, that ceiling is a player we can’t afford (fee or wages) when they are ready made. It’s basically a gamble. Same reason we have a youth team, 100 don’t make it, then we get a Kane.
That's understandable. One or two Punts is acceptable but having half your squad as a punt is going to leave you with a problem.
