Tbh we looked as if we were sitting back for most of the gameIf the players are limited, Frank has to be more creative. Make smart combos that they prepare for the match. Our players are static, and that must also be on Ange.
The material that the Bodo manager has is in no way better.
We're Spurs now. Teams come with a different approach than when they play Brentford. They're sitting back more and Frank has to show that he can build a system that is threatening.
What I don’t get as I have said many times surely the players and couching staff know this? So why give it back to him to kick when an outfield could do it much better. Ex last night why does VDV just clear instead of giving it to Vic to do.
Lazy punditryCan't help but chuckle as Hoddle and TNT say we would have lost that game last year.
Erm... no. Played the same team 4 months ago twice and thumped them twice![]()
It’s posters who keep saying “they see potential ‘ or the bollocks ‘there’s a player in there’s’. Pathetic!Really?
Outside the starting 11, the quality is not good enough, simple as. And if they are good enough, then why do the same players perform so poorly so regularly?
The squad needs an overhaul. And to many people are defending to much mediocrity.
I have nothing against any of them personally, but a lot of them are not good enough.
But he was also not helped by the club in 2018. If we had a deeper squad who knows.Poch at the end was absolutely terrible. For a solid year. We had relegation form for most of it. He couldn't get change his system, picking his favourites in Sissoko and Winks for the worst double pivot I can remember. Not making subs til the 80th minute We were so easy to play against. His career has only went one way since. He also publicly threw tantrums, constantly flirted with leaving for a bigger job. You must have a short memory.
You could see straight away we played good football immediately under Poch. And no, it didn't take a year and a month to turn good. We finished 5th and played some great attacking stuff and we're solid at the back. But he stagnated, it happens, it was sad. Those good Poch years were amazing though.
Said it many a timeThat fromt three costed around 150M? That’s insane. INSANE. Someone should be fired for that.
Still coughing up a lot of good chances. Certainly better than the ones we are creating at the other end.We started with...
----Bergvall----Bentancur----Sarr----
---Johnson----Richie----Odobert----
A toddler could tell you that was gonna be limited af.
Look at that front 3... it stinks.
We just don't have the players to support the kind of rotation he wanted for this game.
Not with injuries we currently have to solanke and Kolo, especially.
Frank had no problem attacking at Brentford.
Fluidity wasn't an issue.
Whilst he's still getting to grips with the players and who he can trust, to rotate in a way that doesn't completely gut us, we have to give him some time.
We're 4th in the league and 4th in the CL.
Give the guy credit for honouring his words that he's focusing first on making us resilient and difficult to beat.
Doing exactly that.
If we go on and have our players back and we're still not as fluid as we should be, then I'll join you, but for now it's clear we're still a work in progress.
And I doubt we'll ever see that front three starting again.
Rancid.
Did you watch Barca v psg tonight. Amount of kids both managers were throwing on was incredible. They weren’t scared do so they were brave. I don’t know the quality of this players but at least their managers had the guts to put them on in a big CL game. Only our club seems to think we can’t , have to send them on loan or make excuses for the ones that do play and keep saying they are young. Ffs tel is 20 and Wilson older I think. The players both teams tonight were playing were like 17 and 18. Some making debut in CL.I think some of the dinlows on here would actually sack Frank less than 10 games in. Incredible as that seems...
And as you said, we have had a more than decent start all things considered.
We have a lot of young players in this squad who are being asked to step up, we have most of our experienced creativity sidelined long term and we probably need at least two more windows to get the squad right.
I'm by no means a happy clapper, I've been plenty critical. But the club actually had a decent window, we got a manager who most people seemed happy with. What is required now is a bit of patience and support.
Some of the takes on here convince me we aren't dealing with serious people tbh.
A lot of it is that mob up the road looking like challengers and living rent free in some of our so called fans heads. And that melting adds to the urgency and impatience in our fan base.
I mean our academy ones.He played Odobert and Bergvall.....
They are youngsters, what are you waffling about?
PSG will rip us apart even with their forward line missing. Will be just too fast in everything for our ponderous setup. Don’t mention the super up as they literally just come back from holiday. Monaco will be tough as will Dortmund even Frankfurt. We needed the 3 points yday tbh.A draw is still two points dropped. Not exactly something to celebrate, especially when you're playing weaker opposition.
Possibly, but he should've won something with that team he had. Even a league or FA Cup. Not winning with that team for me is a failure. But he was also not helped by the club in 2018. If we had a deeper squad who knows.
There was no magic tactics. Whatever we had was revealed from the first minute - sit back in a low block and basically couldn’t pass our way out of a paper bagThe game was really ninety odd minutes of our DM's nd defenders waving the opposition through.
We could easily have been four or five goals down, and to this end Frank has to take responsibility. Why he decided not to train on the pitch for fear of our tactics being revealed is beyond me.
We didn't have any tactics, system, or enthusiasm for this game.

Cmon they are paid 100i thought they seemed to move the ball between their feet with a quickness we lacked. or they seemed to being moving and playing more instinctively while we seemed a half step slow and our passing was sloppy. that guy who scored for them looked particularly more adept with the ball at his feet and turning, etc. and i doubt he was the most technical player out of everyone under normal conditions.
i mean, we were shit. but traveling so far to play a small club with a plastic pitch could not have been very inspiring and it showed.
Cmon they are paid 100Ks per wk to play a sport in the CL could they not inspired or run a bit more! We looked lazy and unwilling to break a leg. Why do you want to throw academy players straight into the CL when we have players like Odobert who need minutes/experience??
It's similar to Conte and Jose, sit deep and then try to spring a counter attack. There was no magic tactics. Whatever we had was revealed from the first minute - sit back in a low block and basically couldn’t pass our way out of a paper bag
absolutely. Will be interesting to see how Leeds set themselves up for tne next game. If they try to capitalize on the weaknesses we saw, or if they sit back more. In any case, we've not seen much adaptability from the team regardless of who we play. And I think most teams have Frank's football worked out already. Slooow build ups with the almost sole aim of crossing it. But we don't even commit in the box when doing so. Safety first, always.
But do we actually really use counter attacks as a weapon? It's similar to Conte and Jose, sit deep and then try to spring a counter attack.
It’s effective if, you can pass the ball quickly and accurately, along with a striker who can hold the ball up.
We on the other hand, could not do any of the above. It just leads to the team being under constant pressure leading to mistakes and goals conceded.
Yet again, the team is in a poor state with a lack of strikers available.
Muani can't play for some reason and, Solanke is made of glass, Xavi can't find his rhythm, Maddison won't play probably until next season, it's a poor state of affairs.
