Haven't beaten them away for two seasons.

This is how they set up in their last game against Bournemouth:

Interesting facts:
  • Brighton completed a Premier League double over Tottenham in the 2024-25 season, the only time they have won back-to-back league meetings against Spurs.
  • Before the 2024–25 season, Brighton had never won consecutive league games against Spurs.
  • Matches between these two teams often guarantee goals, with only one of their 41 competitive meetings ending in a goalless draw.
  • Tottenham has never lost three successive away visits to Brighton.
  • Gary Stevens played for Brighton when they got relegated in 1983 and then went on to move to Spurs.

Need change of formation for that game.
Want to have double pivot CM + 3 behind the striker. With someone in the middle who can keep the posession. So kind of tempted to go with -

--------------Vicario-------------
Porro--Romero-VDV--Udogie
-------Palhinha--Sarr-----------
---Odobert--Kudus----Xavi----
-----------Richie-----------------

I know, I know, Xavi should be #10 and Kudus a winger blahblahblah.
But based on last few games, we have failed keeping the ball upfield. Kudus could make the ball stick there, and then maybe Odobert or Xavi or even Sarr can get close to him and take the ball off him for final ball.

I think it is too early for Muani to start - opposition aint easy, and also away game.

Alternative could be also maybe -

--------------Vicario-------------
Porro--Romero-VDV--Udogie
-------Palhinha--Sarr-----------
--Kudus----Xavi----Riche-----
-----------Tel/Johnson---------

Richie on wing could help with pressing and ball retention, and then to have either Tel or Johnson starting up top. Come to think of it I might even prefer Johnson due to his finishing ability there, if pick is between the two.

Tuesday to Saturday turnaround is very manageable and surely we rotate heavily against Doncaster in the cup the following week. So no reason not to go full strength here.

Vicario
Spence Romero VDV Udogie
Bergval Palinha Bentancur
Kudus Richarlison Simons

I'd start Spence as I'd fancy him to lock down Mitoma in a 1v1. If simons is lw then I think Udogie needs to be left back as you want a natural left footer overlapping. I've gone for Bergval over Sarr just based on recent form but its close. Close call between Richarlison, RKM and Tel too - take your pick!

Their team looks ass.

Vic
Porro - Romero - Danso - Udogie
Palhinha
Bentancur - Xavi
Kudus - Tel - Odobert
Protect VDV's hamstrings. Porro or Spence to be rested with Udogie coming in.

Sarr and Bergvall can do with a rest.
Palhinha/Bentancur partnership to return but Xavi moved central to effect the game more.

We can't rotate Kudus yet until Muani and Solanke are back.
Give Tel another run out and anyone but Johnson at LW. Don't think Odobert has started there yet this season so he should get a go.
Another 30 mins in the legs for Muani too.

From last night's starting XI, swap Spence/Udogie, Bentacur/Palhinha and Bergvall/Tel or Odobert.

Brighton Sat 20th 3pm

Vicario
Porro Romero VDV Udogie
Palhinha Sarr
Kudus Xavi (Tel or Odobert)
Richarlison

Doncaster Wed 24th 7:45 pm
Kinsky
Spence Danso Davies Udogie
Bergvall Bentacur Gray Johnson
Muani Tel

Next game is Wolves Sat 27th 8 pm.

Got tickets in the Home End or Home Side to be more exact. Did the same 2 years ago and the place was full of incognito Spurs fans. Was no trouble , probably due to the fact that we were leaking goals like a sieve and Richy was having a particularly bad cows posterior/banjo sort of a game. Seagulls fans were therefore feeling jovial

Udogie has made 20 minute (ish) sub appearances in the last 2 matches. Is he fit enough to start ? If not starting needs to increase playing time to 45 minutes

Kolo Muani played 15 mins v Villareal - last played for Juventus back in June in the World Club Cup which was almost played like friendlies and no real pre-season back at PSG so understandably not match fit. Another sub appearance v Brighton but maybe only 30 minutes odd as he gets back math fitness.

Two more players getting close to being able to start will be a boon in the coming weeks.

Really interesting side.

Two big CB’s, two hardworking MF schemers, dangerous wingers and a mercurial Rutter

Do you need a membership or anything t

Vicario

Porro
Romero
VDV
Spence

Palhinha
Bergvall
Sarr

Kudus
Tel
Xavi

Same eleven that started West Ham.

Muani won't be fit enough yer to start and I think I'd prefer Tel to Richarlison at the moment.

Probably be tempted to give Spence a rest for this one and start Udogie, drop Bentancur for Palhinha, Sarr for Odobert and play Xavi 10. Odobert may not be the best player who can play that left wing position but he is the only player we have there who will look to keep us wide, I think him coming on made a bigger impact on our attacking cohesion in the 2nd half vs Bournemouth than even Bergvall.

Odobert opting to go outside his fullback gives Spence the option to underlap which he was visibly desperate to do on several occasions last night, so there is some scope to say it lies in our interests to build that left side partnership and maybe get Udogie involved when we need a fullback that naturally wants to overlap, e.g when Johnson, Tel or Simons are on the left. It's hard especially as Frank has just come in to have to drop players who are putting in good match performances and training sessions but we need to find a better solution for balance down the left as it has clearly been an issue in last night's match and the Bournemouth game.

In response to the question of how I got tickets for the Brighton game, my mate and his wife have got a season ticket there so just using her ticket. Its actually the wife who is the ardent Brighton fan, but she's got to go shopping with my missus. Thems the breaks.
I fancy us in this game, Brighton can't endlessly go on selling players for stupid money to Chelsea (and us) without it having an impact on the team
