Yeah. But the point I'm trying to make is that had the own goal not happened, they'd be celebrating a heroic draw and this whole saga would not have been blown up to the fanatical levels of paranoia we've been witnessing.

To put it bluntly, the hysteria is only happening because they lost
Not just that they lost, but the manner I'm which they lost. If Alisson doesn't make 2 spectacular saves and we win 3-1 (assuming we wouldn't have gotten the OG since we would likely no longer be pressing,) just about everyone would have already forgotten about this.

Agree.

They'd also be heavily praised for surviving and showing this alleged Liverpool 2.0 are genuine contenders.

The focus would shift to the red cards, and we know that they were both soft...at least that is what Sky Sports are telling me to believe

Quite enjoying other teams fans putting out all their VAR mishaps against Pool with taglines to the effect of “karma” or “what goes around comes around”

Rishi Sunak has just announced that the last 10 miles of rail track into Liverpool will be torn up and sold for scrap. Only to be told that it has already been stolen and sold for scrap.

Kier Starmer said that he's always been a Spurs fan and the goal was clearly offside. Less than an hour later he said that he's always been a Liverpool fan and the goal was clearly onside.

The Lib Dems said that VAR should be replaced with a proportional representation system whereby all fans vote on whether a goal was on- or off-side, with their first, second and third preferences counted over three days of voting. As usual nobody understands what the fuck they are on about.

Joe Biden said that he was standing behind the brave people of Mancherpool. And then fell over.

While I fully agree with your sentiment, that's a bit harsh on Matip, the ball was fizzed in and there were two attackers behind who would have filled their boots if he'd done nothing.

A bit like Romero last week, you're fucked either way. You have to try to stick something in the way and hope your god goes with you.
100 % agree with this, one of the reasons its so frustrating when we don't fizz balls across in the first place, maybe its just me but so many times when we face a low block it seems we don't do this enough!

It will be interesting to see if there is an overreaction from officials at the next Liverpool game - i.e favouring Liverpool. And then widespread criticism of that. TBH I sort of hope that does happen!
I would actually love it if the PGMOL and EPL just turn around to Liverpool after all this shit and say
"Okay, we've listened to your wailing, you don't like VAR or the officiating in the Premier League, tell you what, there are some other leagues below that you can try out if you'd like"
