Player Spurs Youth 2025/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Brentford did similar maybe 10 years ago and closed their entire youth set up, but re-opened it about 3 or 4 years ago.

Be interesting to see Watford do.

Whilst Spurs have an u21 side, most of the players stay there for 1 or 2 years after U18's before being loaned out - the players do get a development benefit from playing u21's for one or two years but playing in u21's more than that, if anything means their development regresses.

Extend his contract.

Find him a good Champo loan.
Yeah he's a talent and while I did question his desire for a bit as he dropped off quite dramatically, he seems to have pulled himself back.
I don't think the moving about of positions helped but there were a few games I watched where it looked like he wasn't even really trying and only came alive when he had the ball, almost like he felt he was above putting in the graft.

Extend and a higher level loan would be the best option I reckon.

Friday 29 May is the last working day of May which, last year was when a summary of released and retained players were released. If not Friday, the lists will be released next week I'd expect

This year I'm expecting the following to be released from Spurs U21's Ashcroft, Pele, Logan, Craig, Black, and maybe King and Lehane (7 players) will probably be released whilst Maguire and Cassanova both being almost 22 but still under contract may be made available for a free transfer - so a total of 9 players.

Additionally Elijah Upson seems not to have accepted a pro contract, and like his father Matthew, might have decided not to sign one and move to another club so he and I suspect Myrtaj and Bangura may also leave or in case of Myrtaj possibly get a 3rd year academy.

One or two of the players on loan may move on but that's about it ?

Leon Myrtaj, who is of Hungarian descent, confirmed left

Yeah, it's one thing watching it at home with your gooner family but as a Spurs player, it's a bit much actually going out and joining in, in the social media age it's going to be seen.

My guess is that half at most of the academy players we sign are Spurs fans, the others will support mainly other clubs (and of course there's lots other than Woolwich just in London whether Chelsea, Fulham, Millwall, Charlton etc plus there will be others who support non London sides or even those overseas) . As an example Ryan Mason's parents were avid Chelsea fans and season ticket holders although Ryan became a total Spurs supporter after he joined Spurs academy.

Its a toughie, and I know one former Spurs youth coach who caught some of the lads watching another London sides games, gave the lads a very pointed lecture on supporting the club who paid their wages and not alienate the fans who cheered them on either. I'd hope the current coaches include that lecture as part of the academy 'educational' process.

Yeah, I've not issue with youngsters supporting other clubs, it's to be expected and hopefully they'll eventually become yiddos.
I do whoever think it's pretty ignorant if they have been out at watchalongs and the parade.

Whether you're a player or coach/staff or exec, you support Woolwich, Chelsea or West Ham...or have any other serious connection with them...well you got nothing to do at Spurs, get the hell out!

If ENIC understood & loved Spurs, we would never have had to suffer that Gooner prick as our CEO, we wouldn't have wasted 50 big ones on friggin Kudus (after he slapped Micky), and we would have gone nowhere near Gallagher.
