Player Spurs Youth 24/25 (including younger players loaned out)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

QPR Fan here with some free time on my hands so thought I'd give an update on a former youth player of yours, Kieran Morgan.

He's been brilliant. We only brought him in in the summer after he was released by Spurs, seems like we often pick up ex Spurs kids and stick them in our academy. Not many go on to make it with us but Morgan certainly has. Only 18 and has been ever present in our side since October and has made 20 appearances with us while also chipping in with a goal and a couple of assists.

Mature for his age, very comfortable on the ball, composed, great passing and vision on him too. Fits into our midfield 3 like a glove and has dislodged a marquee (for us) signing with relative ease. His playstyle is akin to a young Paul Scholes imo, pretty tenacious, finds space, links up well and always looking to move the ball forward with through balls.

Seems a bizarre one that Spurs let him go tbh. I'm not saying he's the second coming of Luca Modric or that he will captain England to a world cup win but he has all the makings of someone who will play in the Premiership one day. The kind of guy that Spurs could have loaned out and eventually sold for a decent few or even used as a squad player ala Skipp or Winks of years gone by.

He needs to bulk up a bit but he's only 18 so that will come in time. But all in all he's a very tidy player who doesn't look out of place in the championship.
He was brilliant in our new year's day against Watford and got a pretty neat assist from a free kick routine for our first goal.

Not suggesting by any means that we've done you over by signing him lol, it's a pretty big gulf between you and us but it does strike me as a bit odd that you let a player with bags of talent go.

I've heard from other QPR fans that he was recommended to us after his release by Bradley Allen.

We're playing Luton tonight in what will be a pretty heated game as there's lots of bad blood between us especially in recent years. Morgan will very likely start the game for us, think we're live on Sky if you fancy checking up on him tonight.
Thanks for that mate, insightful & pleased for him & for QPR

Thanks for taking the time to come by and give us your thoughts.

There are a few followers of our youth teams who were mystified (even angry) at Morgan's release as we thought he was better than several other CB's or DM's we had (arguably mistakenly) retained, and think/hope they will be released at end of this season instead.

Back to Kiernan Morgan, and I for one am very pleased he's landed on his feet - whilst no world beater I think he's a very good option as either Centre Back or Defensive Midfield player (and a DM comfortable enough to go forward when the opportunities arise), based upon what we saw of him in Spurs youth. Its no real real surprise to those who wanted him to stay at Spurs that he's flourishing at QPR. And thank you and QPR for looking after him when he needed another club

I'm sure playing in your first team squad he'll improve from what we saw of him - and I'm not sure he was good enough to step up directly into our PL squad - but it wouldn't surprise me if you find he's one of your best midfield players in a year or two when he's still only 20 based upon the abilities you list and his willingness to really put his heart and soul into playing for you. I think he's a great pick up for you, whether you stay in Championship or get promoted back into PL.

Best of luck for the rest of the season, and we all hope Kieran will continue to demonstrate what a good player he can be.

Tbh having seen him play week in week out with us he's evidently not a CB or a CDM. He did play in the CDM role initially due to some injuries but he doesn't have that toughness to his game to play that kind of role in the championship. Good at intercepting the ball and receiving it from deep for sure but he's played in more of an advanced CM for us, more or less between the midfield and attacking midfield sort of role but has also played as a makeshift attacking midfielder at times throughout games.

He's the shoe in to win our young player of the year award come the end of season, he'll get that gong without a doubt.
I just love how quickly he's adapted to the championship, proper mature boy who looks like he has 50 games under his belt already and only gets better and better as time goes on.

Very good chance of him being our best player in a year or 2 if he keeps up his current rate of development. It's great for us as we're a bit strapped for cash so to have a young saleable asset is always a big plus lol.
I imagine he probably does have a few premiership clubs keeping an eye on his development given his rapid rise from just another Spurs youth player at QPR to genuine first teamer but I'd be surprised if he did leave so soon.

Still needs a few years of regular football at a club that is prepared to be patient with him and give him opportunities to make mistakes.

All the best for Spurs this season. Always been my favourite of the traditional big 4 clubs. Great fans who can actually laugh at themselves and lack the entitlement and plastic fanbase of other big 4 clubs.

Genuinely appreciate the update … Kieran joined our academy at 8 and spend 10 years at the club so definitely one of our own. Was sad to see him leave but genuinely happy he’s thriving at QPR. All the best to QPR as well …

Tuesday 7 January @ 19.00 Grimsby Town v Spurs u19's (4th Round of FA Youth Cup)

Last Spurs u18 squad
B Irow, Orr (Logan 57), Byrne, Byfield (c), Egan-Riley, Tye Hall (Williams-Barnett 61), Moncur (Salter 79), Feeney, Lehane, Oliver (Thomas 79), T Thompson.
Substitute (not used): D Thompson.

The FA Youth Cup is a highly regarded competition in youth circles with the strongest possible teams usually selected - however with the First team having a match on Wednesday, with plenty of injured players, its uncertain which squad the likes of Malachi Hardy will appear in - first team bench or FA Youth Cup starting X1.

Yesterday's postponement of the u21 match may also have released a couple of u18's originally earmarked to play for u21's
postponed due to water logged pitch

Morgan is starting tonight for us. I'm at the game and it's bloody cold. If you're gunna watch the game then I do envy you for being able to do it from the warmth of your front room.

Think this will be a good test for Morgan as Luton are a very physical and high pressing team who'll be raring to go at us today.

A few quotes off a QPR fans forum (QPR won 2-1):

1 'Morgan MOM and who can argue with that?
I've not seen a midfielder dominate a match in the QPR midfield since... Christ knows when?

2. 'Is Keiron Morgan the best midfielder at the club? I think he might be'.

3 'Morgan is MOTM and is a real talent. Mature performance and amazing engine and balance'.

4 After being subbed in injury time ' Deserved ovation for Morgan... a real player'

I think QPR fans think he's definitely a decent catch !

Really confirms the youth watchers views on this board last summer that we should have retained Morgan and released others

He was good, QPR looked good overall I thought. Luton look in trouble, they could drop down another division if last night was anything to go by.

The club have really dropped a bollock here. I hope there are some embarrassed faces around the place. And yet they give contracts to absolute dross like Robson, Linton etc... It truly beggars belief.

Agree

Its not been a good couple of years for Spurs youth management decision making - released Kieran Morgan, Jaden Dixon, lost Jayden Meghoma and Sam Amo-Ameyaw, all of whom have made appearances at Championship or PL (Meghoma now at Brentford) club level since leaving Spurs.

Someone 'senior' needs to be tasked with spotting the best kids we need to keep at all year levels - repeat that exercise regularly - and ensure the lads have clear development paths (including appropriates remuneration) so the best ones don't have incentives to leave. And not allow poor quality players to clog up the system as the best lads will not develop if played alongside poor quality players. Clearly this is not happening atm. as we do have lots of low quality players clogging up the system whilst having lost good players - hence our current u21's squad

Even as a QPR fan it does seem like an exceptionally strange decision to let Morgan go, I am of course very happy that you did! Personally think we're due a good "Spurs reject" as we've signed a lot of your sloppy seconds over the years who haven't made the grade with us. Joe Lumley is one who did make the step up but he still gives me nightmares, guy is Dracula reborn when it comes to dealing with crosses.

The only reason I can think of is that the youth coaches saw Morgan only as a CB or CDM and thought that he had no future further up the pitch. It's all the rage to have ball playing CB's now even among championship and league 1 sides. Maybe the youth coaches were so dead set on Morgan being a CB that rather than seeing his positives outside of being a CB they only saw the negatives of him as a CB.

He had a terrific game for us last night. He's so good at breaking through lines with neat touches and through balls. Even bagged himself an assist for our first goal.

Luke Amos was unlucky with injuries, he seemed on his way to a good career.

Why don’t we have a track record of loans I wonder? Donley, Scarlett, Phillips, Abbott etc could have been logical loans to QPR.

Sometimes the kids just don’t see a route to men’s football here and just want to go and try their luck elsewhere. It’s always hard to know the exact situation.

Amos was a very good player for us tbf but his injuries did completely derail everything for him. He had the potential to play for a lower level premier league/top championship club and likely would be right now had he not been so injured.

I don't get why we don't try and bring in more of Spurs best youngsters on loan though, it's a logical choice like you've said. Our clubs seem to have a positive relationship and our manager is top notch when it comes to developing and getting the best out of players.

Friday 10th January @ 19.00 - Derby County U21 v Spurs U21

Last U21 Squad

Maguire, Ashcroft (Elliott-Parris 84), McKnight, King, Andiyapan (Byrne 76), Robson (c), Adewole (Ajayi 63), Tyrese Hall, O Irow (Williams 63), Black (Beggs 63), T Thompson (Akhamrich 63).
Substitute (not used): Bloedorn.

I suspect that important U21 players such as Dorrington and Olusesi may form part of the first team squad to face Tamworth on Sunday. as will new boy Yang, so the squad will probably not be thar much stronger than the squad above.

There is also the U!8 NLD on Saturday, so its likely the best U18's will play in that match and not play U21's

Saturday 11th January @ 11.00 - Woolwich U18's v Spurs U18's

Last U18 Squad

Irow, Orr (Logan 57), Byrne, Byfield (c), Egan-Riley, Tye Hall (Williams-Barnett 61), Moncur (Salter 79), Feeney, Lehane, Oliver (Thomas 79), T Thompson.
Substitute (not used): D Thompson.
