Luca Williams-Barnett must be close already you would think
I think like with Mikey they'll be a bit cautious not to rush him through, he's not even technically an U18 yet. He's 2 scholar year groups below Mikey so maybe not next season. Maybe starts next season with U18s again and then moves up to U21s. Winning Europa would obviously change everything because there would be more games for young players to get opportunities off the bench and it would mean this U18 team would be in the UEFA Youth League which would be brilliant for them.

He's been on the bench 4 times.

He will become aged 17 in October,2025, only 16 now and about 14 months younger than Mikey Moore

So its perfectly possible that LWB will make a few appearances for first team off the bench in 2025.

Mikey has played quite a lot this season (5 starts and about 10 off bench, 600 odd minutes played in all competitions), but imo is too easily brushed off ball - its to be expected as he's not fully grown yet with the physical development that goes with it. At his age kids develop physically rapidly so he'll play more next season with a more physically developed body, but I suspect his real breakthrough season will be 2026/27 rather than 2025/26. And that might be a balancing act between Son's decline and Mikey becoming a top first team player.

All youngsters are different, but its reasonable to expect that LWB progress will follow a similar path to Mikey - although I'd not expect LWB to play more than Mikey, some of whose starts were possibly due to injuries to other players.

LWB is a fantastically talented footballer, definitely in the same top category as Mikey, and maybe a touch unfortunate that their best position is a fairly similar position off the left. On the other hand 2 top players in one position would be fantastic.

One of the other players to watch for imo is Tynan Thompson - if we didn't have LWB we'd be counting down the days as he has the potential to become a Saka type winger.

Not in the same skill category as LWB - very few players are - so he might be a year or so behind LWB, and unfortunate that his best position is LW so it might get a bit crowded in that area of the pitch !.

LWB was born to be a Left Wing Back.

I'll get my coat.

Generally agree - although your post was made at exactly same time as mine ! I think we are in general agreement although slight differences.

LWB is 17 in October and as part of any contractual discussions I'd imagine his advisors will raise the issue of development and first team involvement, to which club will probably agree to 'some first team involvement'.

Mikey played a lot more this season than I expected, in part due to EL matches and in part due to number of injuries. Whether we are in europe next season or not, I'm not expecting the same level of injuries regardless of who is manager as we will probably bring in a few players in window plus Gray and Bergvall will play a full part next season rather than a small part in first half of season etc. So Spurs need to play Mikey (or LWB) will not be anything like as acute next season as this season.

So my guess is the plan might be for LWB to have a couple of first team appearances, even half a dozen or so next season to show LWB that Spurs want him, much less than Mikey this season.

LWB has totally exceeded all expectations playing for u18's this season, so whilst he may well start next season in u18's, he's probably almost outgrown u18's so we are in agreement he'll move into u21's sometime in next season.

Monday 14 April @19.00 - Spurs u21 v Everton u21

Last u21 Squad
Maguire, Ashcroft, Rowswell (McKnight 64), King, Robson; Russell-Denny, Olusesi (c) (Kyerematen 64), Black (Akhamrich 76); Ajayi, Williams, Irow (Linton 82).
Substitutes (not used): Krasniqi.

Last year the Retained and Released lists were published in early June, so I'd guess a similar timetable this season. Before then we may hear of a few u21's and Academy Year 2 players either get contract extensions (often only one year extra) and/or hear of those players being on trial or signing contracts at other clubs if on the released list. If we have a full clear out its likely to be a dozen or so being released but a partial clear out may mean only half that number being released.

A full clear out likely means a handful of this years u17's being part of u21 squad next season, a partial clear out means much less involvement from this years u17's in u21's next season.

FYI there are still half a dozen u18 fixtures to play this season.
