Because they both aim to do the same job and Dier does it better of the two. Dembele deeply missed.
Seems to me that most teams we've played since the back end of last season have figured out that we don't like being played out our own game. Put us under a lot of pressure and we don't have many players who are comfortable at playing it out when being squeezed.
Especially apparent when Dembele is missing.
Our advantage is that we have been playing this game for years now and have the stamina to make it work for 90mins and most other teams do not.
May be an explanation as to why we have been so much better in the second half of games so far this season.
