What about ''we are gonna give everything to try and get top 4''?

That would suggest top 4 was our target.

I remember being slagged off for saying we failed regarding top 4, and when I posted quotes from Levy, Poch and 4 or 5 players talking about making the CL it was claimed that they simply "have to say we are chasing top 4" to appease "gullible idiots" like myself.

So what is it?

The players and club should talk up 4th, but the fans should be happy with 5th and 6th every time they fail?

Out of interest, where did you stand on the Baldini/Levy summer of Bale. Where you like most and saying Baldini and Levy had done a great job, getting the signings in early that it ws out best transfer window for ages, etc?
Or were you saying they have fucked up and the majority of those will be shit, a waste of money and we will have to sell -& maybe at a loss?
Hindsight is such a wonderful thing.
I see this sentiment on here sometimes. And I think I understand it. Basically, you judge a transfer if it was good at the time it was made, not whether it worked out in the end. I think that is basically fair enough for any individual transfer. After all, injury or a steep drop in performance, or whatever could happen and be totally unforeseeable.

However, when you are evaluating a football executive's overall record, nothing could be more relevant than the success and failure of the transfers. We should judge them on how well the transfers turned out. It is the most objective measure. Moreover, whether I thought the Bale money was well spent at the time is irrelevant. I'm an idiot. I watch one or two matches a week. I have a full time job. Baldini is supposed to be an expert. We are not. Evaluating footballers is what he is paid for. Experts should know more than we do. Therefore, just because I was excited about getting all of those players is completely unimportant.

The Bale money was terribly spent. Baldini out, bitches.

I was asking him the question if that would be ok in his negative world. Not suggesting an opinion on what Toby said.

Ashley Young, getting older, inconsistent, diving dickhead, no thanks.

We have bought some really interesting players this summer like Wimmer and Alderweirerld, let's not spoil it.

TOP STORY: Chicharito to Spurs?
With Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez set to enter the 2015-16 campaign as backup to Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford, the Mirror reports that Tottenham will attempt to entice the Mexico striker to sit on the bench behind another England forward in Harry Kane -- tempting.
The paper suggests that Spurs are poised to step up their interest in "Chicharito" once Emmanuel Adebayor's impending loan move to Aston Villa is completed, while fellow flop Roberto Soldado is a target for Villarreal according to the Daily Mail.

Can't see us buying Young simply because he is no longer what his name states. 30 year old players aren't being bought by Spurs currently. He is a solid player though. His diving and cheating rightly put people off but he was really good last season.

As a professional athlete, or team, you are supposed to aim high, to set goals that are hard to reach but achievable. You might not be the favourite to reach the position you aim for, in most cases, unless you are Usain Bolt or early 2k Tiger Woods, you most likely wont. Not reaching your goals is not the end of the world. If you are far off your goals, you should reconsider them or the way you go about your stuff. Getting fifth when your aim for fourth definately isn't far off.

Yes, of course they should say they aim for fourth. We, as fans, should hope for fourth. What we shouldn't do is scream for huge organizational changes, sackings or spending sprees that will bring us to the brink of bankruptcy when we miss the mark by one or two positions.
