We need to either integrate Cameron Carter-Vickers into the line up or buy a centre half. We simply cannot keep taking away our best defensive midfield footballer and weakening the line up by putting him in centre half.

We also need cover for defensive midfield. I'm happy with Alli, Dembele and Dier as central midfield options but when Dier doesn't play there, it's a mess. Absolute mess.

I think if Vertonghen had been fit we might have seen more of Carter-Vickers in the cup games - it's just too much to put him in with Wimmer.

Would be a good signing. Although I'd question if at his age he'd have the mobility to cope at DM in the Prem.

A Davids-esque signing though that would be great for the likes of Dier.

I think we should be all over Granit Xhaka (23) as competition for Dier.

The days of 'Davis-eque' signings are long gone I feel, and I for one think it's for the best.

I agree and disagree. But, never underestimate the positives of a prolific title winner in the midst. We've already seen the experience of Toby be a great settler at the back.

A signing of Mascherano's ilk could only be a positive. For a year or two.

I like the idea of a title winner being in the squad for the sake of the squads mentality but think it is just a romantic notion and not actually that beneficial.

It takes most players signed 12 months to understand Poch's tactics/philosophy and by that point someone like Mascherano would have cost £6,760,000 in wages, having been our highest paid player and dwarwing the top earners of £80,000 if we matched the £130,000 he is on at Barca.

That may upset squad more than bringing it together, it may not of course. But there is a lot more to consider than just 'He's a winner'.

Well yes, of course, like that's he's a very, very good player in 2 positions.

He also won't command 130k if he were to return to the PL unless Pep takes him back at City, which seems likely.

He's from the famed Zagreb academy. But I mean anyone who is small and plays central midfield coming through their ranks is dubbed a new Modric. Kovacic was always the better prospect.

I wouldn't really think he was good enough for Spurs. But I'm inclined to trust Pochettino.
