I'll be honest, I don't think I'd want Goetze. He would have to start and I don't see him as an upgrade on Eriksen. He's a name and nothing more.

not to mention he's fat :eriksenlol:

The only thing I can remember about him was his goal in World Cup Final which was pretty good I'd have to say

It's a weird one. Mostly because of his seemingly excessing fat and rumoured lack of work ethic.

It might be said of quite a few players here and there, half in jest. But in the case it's more so than ever a case of, if we can get him I reeeeeeaaaaaaallllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy fucking want him. If he chooses another club of similar or smaller stature, then good riddance. Why? Because he'll know about the double and triple training sessions under Poch. If he comes here, it'll put question marks over his work rate to bed imho, and I'm sure he'll be whipped into shape sharpish. If he chooses an easier job somewhere else, we're better off without him.

Firstly its Bayern Munich so not getting in their team is no shame they are amazing. Gotze was brilliant for Dortmund, he is a game changing type player and would not be disappointed getting him, that being said it's probably a long shot.

And that was 2 years ago. He hasn't been a regular starter since.
Doesn't necessarily worry me when that team is Bayern.
He's proven in a system very much like Poch's.
I think he might be cheaper than some are assuming.
We need a larger squad to compete in the CL next season.
He's got double the CL experience as the rest of our squad combined.
After a few weeks of Pochettino's training regimen he'll be as lean as anyone else.
His upside potential is massive.
And he's still very young.

I don't really understand the naysayers here. We'll have a massive number of fixtures next season. The obsession with nailing down a preferred first 11 is fantasy. There's going to be a lot of rotation and squad competition next season if we hope to compete in the CL and league simultaneously at a high level, and Gotze could be an ideal partner or competition for any of our current attacking players.

If we want to build on last season then we need more squad depth, and Gotze would be one of those signings that lays a marker down for our challenge on the league.

For all you know, that's their version of Gibbsy suggesting that :lameladisgust:

It's just fans tossing around what they fancy.

Agreed and I'm not taking it seriously but I will be relieved after

Agreed and I'm not taking it seriously but I will be relieved when Janssen finally signs without any hiccups at the medical tomorrow!

Getting a 'reject' from the like of Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern is a good thing. Woolwich's best two players Ozil and Sanchez are rejects and we could have our own.

I get all that but would he be happy not being an automatic 1st choice behind Tommy C

:harryhmm:

.....at Bayern, possibly the most stacked team on the planet. Nobody in the Premier League would get into their starting eleven.
Yes but he hasn't played for two years and would jump into a rigorous training. I just wouldn't want him to be a waste of money and space because of an epic WC goal.

So then you would be ok with him taking the starting spot of Eriksen or Alli?

I'd like him, but the way he's playing at the moment he isn't. He wouldn't last 1 Poch session, never mind 2.

No, because he wasn't the spearhead of Klopps gegenpressing machine at Dortmund, was he?

:pochfacepalm:

Stop digging deeper already.

What's that got to do with it? That's not the player that's for sale. This one looks slow, overweight and lacking in confidence. What am I digging? If he was showing the form he did at Dortmund, Bayern wouldn't be selling him. He wouldn't last 90 mins in the Prem at the moment. If you can't acknowledge that you're a fool.
