However he never was officially their player, irrespective of the supposed £6m deal they had in place. We got him for £11m from Atleti, it as a no brainer from them to accept our higher offer. Also Toby wanted to come to us. Southampton may or may not want to do business with us. Seems odd since we've had a number of players and managers off them. Liebherr is a business woman and not a football person. The Southampton fans may hate us and the club might project not wanting to deal with us. However if the price is right then it's a go.
£5m double what we paid for him. Good money for someone that has only played 11mins for us competitively.

As a guy who was out of contract in his late teens you can't feel too sorry, turned his career around and Schalke isn't a bad move at all

Absolutely massive talent, a rare jewel in the turd of AVB/Sherwood season, was immense under Poch's first year too. Such a shame he is going. Remember his debut against Southampton away, but more memorable perhaps was his interview after the game where he couldn't stop smiling. Whatever happened behind the scenes must have been way out of line (to spin a positive, it's another message to the team that Poch demands a lot both on and off the pitch and he will pull the rug from under you without hesitation if the ethics of the group are threatened, can only assume they were).

I agree with most of this but... A player who chooses his country over club is exactly the type of player we seem to want, strong willed, passionate and wanting to prove themselves on the highest stage, just like the English core we have, can't blame bentelab for Algerians fixtures
Agree, kind of the point I've been trying and not doing very well to make, fans hate other clubs for all manner of reasons but it's rare two clubs "hate" each other. They are for the most part competition, nothing more.
