Transfers Summer 2016 Transfer Window Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So everyone pretty much agreed that the two positions that we definitely needed to strengthen were cover for Dier/Dembele and Kane..........we then signed exactly that early in the window for very reasonable fees

But now the narrative is that we have left our transfers to the end of the window

The same people that bemoan late transfer activity also complain about no late transfer activity.....
Amazing init.

I agree that from the outset Janssen/Wanyama joining would have things pretty much covered, but to be fair, since then we've let go of some players as well. In particular Chadli leaving is somewhat of a concern imo. And there are rumours (yeah I know) of some additional departures as well.

Outgoing transfers are completely reliant on the buying clubs timings - so ridiculous for anyone to blame Levy for these happening late unless our valuations are completely out of line (they don't seem to be).

We were never going to sign replacements for perfectly okay PL players like Chadli and Mason before they go, if at all - Poch might think youth team players are ready, he's been right about this previously.

That is all well and good but what really got people's attention was Poch's weird press conference. It is easy to hold the middle ground on this. Basically sit there and say we are great. You will get a lot of agrees and everything will be rosy. But Poch doesn't seem to see it that way and claims we need a Mane. I think I trust Poch on this. N'koudou might mitigate this problem we have behind the strikers but the fact we are desperately trying to sign Zaha, a quite frankly average player, means Poch probably is not happy with the squad.

I feel a bit of pride when you know players like Edwards and Winks etc will get a fair crack of the whip of course there is a place for your Isco's but to many of them make it feel a bit synthetic.

No worries, here's mine

I think he just likes Zaha and every manager everywhere forevermore wants to add to his squad whether he's happy with it or not.

All of Poch's press conferences are pretty weird

Sissoko will taken chances and run at people so in the respect he's not the worst option out there. Just a real whatever signing.... Imminently gettable though

I'd hate it if we signed Sissulko a proper shithouse of a player , occasionally he runs a long way quite quickly with the ball but only in a straight line other than that he's got nothing , he's also got that French coward mentality of when the chips are down blame your teammate mentality.
