Transfers Summer 2016 Transfer Window Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So everyone pretty much agreed that the two positions that we definitely needed to strengthen were cover for Dier/Dembele and Kane..........we then signed exactly that early in the window for very reasonable fees

But now the narrative is that we have left our transfers to the end of the window

The same people that bemoan late transfer activity also complain about no late transfer activity.....
We have signed Wanyama and Janssen, but we've lost three back-up, reliable players in Bentaleb, Mason and Chadli. Imagine what happens if we get hit by some injury crisis.

Sissoko and Zaha just strike me as players that aren't tested by their manager to be better. Which could show a lack of desire for them to be better or just that they need someone to push them.

Weve seen a motivated Sissoko. If he was motivated and pushed to his maximum every week by Pochettino it'd be a no brainer in terms of signing him but it'll be a gamble. Same could be said for Zaha. Maybe he's just comfortable earning his money and knowing he'll get minutes in the Premier League. Maybe Pochettino feels he can push him to the next level and motivate him to achieve alot more. The talent is there.

I'd hate it if we signed Sissulko a proper shithouse of a player , occasionally he runs a long way quite quickly with the ball but only in a straight line other than that he's got nothing , he's also got that French coward mentality of when the chips are down blame your teammate mentality.

There's something wrong when after a shite season for Newcastle, regarded by their fans as the laziest player in the squad, you can be upgraded to Spurs playing in the CL.

They don't really have the money to spend on transfer fees - most goes on wages when you have players like Messi

However they spend enough people say they don't.

Transfers incoming / outgoing.

Barca 16/17
in: 93m / out: 32m (31m spend)

Real Madrid16/17
in: 30m / out: 35m (5m profit)

------

Barca 15/16 (transferban)
in: 51m / out: 48m (3m spend)

Real Madrid 15/16
in: 86m / out: 16m (36m spend)

------

Barca 14/15 (transferban)
in: 177m / out: 82m (86m spend)

Real Madrid 14/15
in: 130m / out: 113m (27m spend)

Sissoko would be a terrific cover / alternative to Dembele - if Poch thinks he can keep him motivated. That'd be my only question (and it's a big one). Talent and in terms of fitting a need, he's perfect.
