Lets lock this up...

Long as City is backed by a government and Chavs by a gangster billionaire it never will catch up. Football should have had a wage and transfer cap years ago, anyway separate issue.

Happy to let Walker-Peters stake a claim for RB. Problem is we need an 'explosive' AM of quality and I am not sure we have that in the squad or youth level ready. That is where our rivals have the advantage and that is where we can best close the gap.

The scouting department has been revamped/sacked twice in 18 months, so you can definitely make the case the club feels that things had not been good enough on that front. And the lack of activity may stem from the time it takes to rebuild a group capable of delivering the required product.
Yeah that is true. I guess it depends on how much of a say the scouts get?
If poch is quite single minded or if he has lots of faith in his scouts?
& Then if levy tries to get that player or whether he sometimes overrules.

Always rated Siggy and hated seeing him rejoin Swansea. Always been one of the few non-Spurs that I've enjoyed seeing do well - but he'll have to stay a non-Spur at the price being quoted. He's always been the ideal understudy to Eriksen, would definitely be in the first team but not regularly the first eleven.

Lamela has a higher ceiling, and hopefully he can find the same level of consistency. At this point Spurs need true class to push on for the title, and Siggy probably wouldn't be happy playing off the bench and being the centerpiece of the rainy night in Stoke team.

5 squad players.

How much would a Winks or a Tom Davies go for in this climate if they didn't come through your academy?

Levy just dropped a whole bunch of truth.

Like it or not, you can't disagree with what he's saying.

Our team is simply developing faster than planned.

Our squad is so strong that we can't afford a player that would improve us.

Suck for transfer drama, but all positive things.

Lamela is better than Siggy, he is quicker, stronger, presses better and is probably one of our most technical players. Before his injury issues he was my second favourite attacking player after Kane, he always raises his game against the likes of City and Woolwich and made us fight hard from the front.

I know he has been away for ages but a fully fit Lamela is every bit as good as Eriksen, Kane and Dele. He will be like a new top signing when we get him back. I think a lot of Spurs fan with short memories will be surprised at what we have been missing when he puts the shirt back on.

No mate what he is saying is we will buy but do not think or expect us to try and compete with the stupid levels being splashed.

I would suggest it's called managing our expectations.

He knows full well that we have to buy. Let us not forget the majority of our squad was bought but he is saying hold us to ransom and I back my manager to do his best to develop from within.

A mix of homegrown and acquired is really the best way by a long stretch.

All of that stuff is never leaving the walls of Spurs House/Hotspur Way, now that the likes of Redknapp and Sherwood aren't there.

That being said, if we're going to fully deliver on the vision that Pochettino and Levy seem to share, our recruiting set-up will need to make a significant leap forward. I don't know if that will actually happen.

Would you not be tempted to send any out on loan so they can get lots of game time?
They won't be all able to get a decent amount of game time.
Winks is obviously ready but I think I'd loan CCV so he can learn his trade.
Not sure if its true but I remember some saying edwards has been promised game time which is why he signed a new deal.
KWP is 2nd choice RB. Onomah I am told is good in his favoured position.
But if any end up playing just 4 or 5 games then I'd rather they went on loan & developed.

Poch has said many times he wants them to stay and train with the first team with his tactics, he's done enough for me to trust he knows best to develop youth.

Or we've already got better than what's been scouted? Realistically we aren't going to improve on our starting 11 without spending £50m+ on a player.
We could improve on trippier, the squad or give us another dimension though.
The first 11 started twice last season & won't be starting the first few games at least.
Football has moved on. You need more than a first 11 these days.
But if we don't then we should be more than good enough for top 4.
We have been through all of this lots on this thread though.

CCV - Far from premier league level player. There is absolutely nothing about his game to suggest he even has a potential to become a Burnley level player.

KWP - The potential is there but he's very error-prone to trust him as a backup option this season. He needs at least 2 full seasons of experience to get rid of errors in his game and improve his endproduct. He also reminds me of Danny Rose when he was his age.

Onomah - see KWP

Winks - He's ready, he can only get better.

Edwards - Extremely lightweight and being 3'10 small doesn't help matters at all. Unless he bulks up and grows tall, I will be shocked if he even makes it to pro football let alone premier league.

Using the academy makes me go a bit fuzzy, anyone who wants to spunk £50m on an average player instead of trusting our youth will end up disappointed but I sure as hell won't.

Each to their own.

I was thinking this waking home earlier - would the spend crowd be happier if we'd paid £50m for Kane?

Any answer but yes means that patience and trust is the key. Hardly like Harry was ever spoken of like some of the "wonderkids" we've had and sold to Swindon

Equivalent costs to recruit the same level per player then please in this market? Put your money where your mouth is.

Not saying their starting XI or perfect, but we've all agreed the starting XI is hard to improve and people are saying we need to improve the squad?
