Transfers Summer 2017 transfer window or, waiting for Godot

In all seriousness, the "patience" the club is showing this window leads me to think we're waiting to make a big splash or we're going to sit tight. Maybe get another RB.

It's a shit comparison, but i remember everyone making fun of Woolwich for not doing any transfer business. Then one day boom! They signed Ozil.

Now we know Ozil sucks, but he was better than what they had.

Each window seems to be more hysterical than the last. Even given the need to feed the 24hr news coverage monster, some of the nonsense circulating is almost enjoyable.

Juan Foyth is clearly a catch, yet there could be Work Permit issues, new environment etc., etc. It makes sense to qualify a bid in case he doesn't make it. Talks are ongoing, then doshed senseless PSG suddenly appear with the asking price. This in no way reduces the above risk, but they can burn 12m. He hasn't been sold immediately as supposedly 'big clubs' are now in. Time for levy's poker face, and if he goes elsewhere, was he ever coming to us?

Barkley's people have been haggling for weeks, now suddenly he wants the Crown Jewels, a JCB and an Aardvark. he clearly has no future at Everton and suddenly Chelsea and Man U want him. This is hastily followed by a denial about the Aarvark.

Periera is touted at a price, Poch want's him, now so do Juventus. Our old friend 'Third Party Ownership,' surfaces, and questionable 'Agents' start appearing, at which time Levy folds up his Briefcase and walks. Having been bitten with Moutinou and his associates, demanding millions into off shore accounts with no names documented, most European clubs know how Levy operates, and therefore can't be surprised when he's back on the plane.
It begs the question, how many clubs go along with it?

Further entertainment is always supplied by our Special Relationship with Real Madrid, and we all know how that works.

Bill Nicholson's transfer rule was, that he would never pay more for a player than he thought he was worth. It is a view that we should still hold to.

No way, I can't remember KWP has played any mins in PL last season. You want Trippier and KWP play PL and CL matched plus the cup games between them like walker and Trippier did last season.
Did you forget last season with Walker and Trippier? We had a very slow start in PL and didn't make CL group stages.
I can't remember if he ever featured in any senior match?! And you expect him to play 90mins in Wembley and away regularly just like that.
I hope I am wrong and KWP even takes over Trippier's role as first choice.
I didn't say I do, I said I think the club does.

And I don't think any of our results last year had anything to do with our fullback/wingback situation, save for the FA Cup final.

Finally! A new signing.
Is he a strawker?

No one is anti transfer....just that some people don't think that we can sign Costa for 50M and expect him to play half the season while rotating with Dele....and keep both
Spending 40 mil on Lemar he would immediately go into the first team, in case you hadn't noticed son and lamela are out for at least first month of season and alli is missing our first 3 champs games. Maybe we get off to a good start to the season and arent playing catch up come january. Why some of you dont want quality players in our team baffles me, so should we just have our set first 11 pray for no injuries and only add players who are going to make up the numbers not compete for places. Please name me one top club that operates like that. I dont want loads of signings, I do want to continue to bring through talent but a right back and a winger/attacking mid is needed and we have the funds with the selling off walker and if we were to sell off gkn and sissocko.

If Barkley wants to come here so much and we ain't paying £50m, what are they going to do.
Keep him, have a player that doesn't want to be there, not use him while paying him..and lose him for nothing.
They will take an acceptable fee surely.
They have spent fuck all. They are about £8m up on transfers.

We don't usually sign players in January anymore.
I suppose it's if they accept a reasonable bid and we are willing to wait until he can train in August. It means him probably being match fit by late September and not having any pre season.
Which he probably wouldn't have had anyway.
There's no way that if we were interested we weren't aware of his hernia up until now.
If he has talked to us, even through his agent, and not disclosed it then we definitely won't be interested now.
Or a season loan with an option to buy for an agreed amount? Win win.

And in case you hadn't noticed Son and Lamela are not first teamers at this time.
So who does he replace?
Dele for 3 CL games? Then what?

Then when Son and Lamela come back in October.....what then?
What makes you think Lemar is even an upgrade on Son. He needs to bang in 22 goals from the bench for that to be the case....

If Son was at Monaco, you'd be saying all the same stuff about signing him. It's child's talk. It's pathetic.

The news is full of statements that Monaco's price for Lemar is 80 million, not 40. Why do you think Levy would get him for half price? Or, why do you think this club would suddenly spend 230% of their previous record signing from last year?

Strange how we are failing because we aren't replacing players in our first XI like everyone else, yet I can't think of one member of our first XI that practically every team in the league wouldn't want.
