But not chelsea. Wonder why?

Its a silly argument colonel.
Apart from leicester (once) its big spenders that win the title.

Someone has to win the title, plenty of others don't having spent large. The Chavs last season signed Kante, who was their difference maker. Batshuayi did about as much as Janssen and he was their big money signing. All of City, Utd, Woolwich all spent large and all finished behind us.

Fair enough. I still think more would prefer walker though.

Maybe. I just think that other team's fans have a, generally, more positive outlook on some of our lads.

If Trips was playing for anyone else in the top 6, and we needed to replace KW still, there would be reams of Sqwaka (sp) tweets, Polygons and all sorts pasted in here suggesting we should "just pay the money" and get him. It just feels very 'grass on the other side' to me.

I get that some people feel that promoting youth isn't exciting or 'success', but it really can be. Pretty soon I'm sure our way of doing things will be seen as the "right" way of doing it, once Man Utd/Chelsea/Liverpool start figuring out how to replicate it, rather than this silly need to spend £50m on a bench player thing.

Chelsea already have the best youth shame, Roman prefers to buy players instead of encouraging to push those kids into the first team picture.

Yeah to a certain extent. He didn't set the world alight though. Same with Rashford really, but only one of them has managed to come through it. It makes me think that he'd have been no different to Soldado and Janssen so far, just more than the cost of both added together.

(Interestingly, Rashford and Solado are generally equal in terms of scoring record in England)
Interesting. Again I am guessing, but I think poch would do wonders with rashford.

The Chelsea Academy is the feeder team for the Scandanavian/Benelux leagues I think. It'd be interesting to see the proportional split of where they end up. Actually, over the whole league - what proportion end up playing for the 1st team vs released vs another team vs Tesco

Yes, so once again a team that spent big won the title.

But we do spend big - we also recoup money from player sales. As the colonel says, look at Liverpool and United in recent years - it's no guarantee of anything.
Not big net spend & not big big signings though. Same with our lower wage bill.

Of course its not a guarantee to win the titles as there's a few doing it.
My argument is its the only way.
So if you don't do it, you don't win titles regularly.

If and I say if we won the league with our existing crop of players. Would you be happy it was done through years of development and not through spending vast sums of money? I know which I would be more proud of as a fan.
Yes of course. But if we did it the other way I'd be delighted we won a title, not be ashamed.
& the better option isn't realistic anyway.

Well we need to get better at it. Our two biggest signings have flopped. I take it you're a fan of the scattergun approach?
Not at all. I just think we would be better with a good quality signing to turn our 1st 11 in to a 1st 12.
I wouldn't moan & guarantee he will be a flop because he cost 40m for example.

& to be honest, most of you would change your stance if we did it or you would be going against the trust in poch stance.
