They didn't spend much more than us last season. The fact they had no European commitments helped them massively.
Ok, the team they had that won them the title isn't classed as spending big?
Its just I read lots on here saying chelsea bought the title last season.
Fair enough if you think they didn't.

Next you will say they don't spend more on their wage bill either!

Not at all. I just think we would be better with a good quality signing to turn our 1st 11 in to a 1st 12.
I wouldn't moan & guarantee he will be a flop because he cost 40m for example.

& to be honest, most of you would change your stance if we did it or you would be going against the trust in poch stance.

And if we sign no one and win the title, you will be flapping your cock in Chelsea and Utd fans faces and waxing lyrical about how we did it the right way.

If Spurs spend big on players, it's because we have balanced the books somewhere. Levy won't get into debt for any manager, so if we splash the cash under Poch, it's because we can.

So why wouldn't I still trust him?

You would change your stance depending on what poch does so there's no point arguing.

& you know the reality is you need to spend big to win the title regularly.
So either you want it that way or not at all in reality.

You can't speak for 'most of us' Scott. And yes, I do trust Poch, we wouldn't be having this conversation about titles if it wasn't for him. He's building something here, why can't you get with that?

Chelsea already had a title winning side from 14/15 they then decided to sack it off and put in the worst defence of a PL title at the time and got Mourinho sacked. They got Conte in and won the league again having not such a difficult campaign. Whilst that happened Leicester won the league, City, Utd, Woolwich and the Dippers all spent vast sums.

We were £27m over last summer though, weren't we (spent roughly £69m and sold £42m).

Under ENIC, we always spent more than we sold up until Redknapp's last summer with us. The 'net spend' thing is a bit of a myth, and suggests to me that managers (inc. the transfer 'committee') have had a free pass in the blame of not gratifying the transfer-craving folk.

Has anyone really listened to Pochettino when he talks about our 'project' compared to others like City, CFC and Man U?
Everton, don't think they'd be spinning all this money if they hadn't sold more to cover it. It's a mad financial risk for them otherwise. If they were suddenly big boys why aren't they competeimg for the bigger names. They can't afford the wages either.last year they spent about £22m net which was less than us. This season they haven't spent anything net.
So let's not pretend that the new owner is giving them lots of money to spend. The extra sponsorship probably ups their wage bill to match a team like us.

We do it differently. Players are only content to be squad players, like they are at City, if they get paid hugely to do so.
Bony could have gone somewhere else earn a decent wage and played regular enjoying his football. Yet he took the money, earning £15m over 3 yrs making less than 20 starts for City and 9 for stoke in 2 seasons.

Would a LVG, Jose or Conte ever come here, even if we won the league last year, and work on a budget and wage structure which means they can't sign whoever they want?

City can pay a 21 yr old with no PL experience £60k a week. Imagine Rose, Eriksen, Ali etc if we did that.
To them £60k is nothing when 13 of the squad are paid £100-200k a week.
if we matched the fee for Lemar, which we could, he would probably be paid a max of £80k ( which wouldn't sit well with some ) probably made up in bonuses. If he gets offered £6m pa over 5 yrs somewhere else in a team equally capable of competing....
If he did join us we would know it's becuase he wants to play for Pochettino and with our players.
I don't think there's a lot of those players who could earn more at other clubs in top 6 that would join us becuase they really want to play for us.
There's a lot of people who think other teams have better scouts for spotting the Mahrez, Kante etc signings ....why can't we find those type of players.
How come Southampton find these players and we don't etc.
Then moan when we don't pay £50m and £100k a week for a player with one decent season under his belt in Ligue Une.

I am happy with what poch is building. Now you are speaking for me ha.

I was just pointing out it won't win you titles. Spending big's the only way to regularly do it.

Yes, so the chelsea team fee's & wage bill is a lot!
Anyway. Again I agree to disagree colonel. Don't think we can go any further with this one.

Again, with respect, your misreading what people are posting. No one has said the team that spends the most wins the title. But generally speaking, spending money on quality players gives you more chance of success.

We have spent money on players and we have been successful. How much more do we need to spend to win a title. We already have one of the most consistent teams. We fell over in the period Chelsea went on their run and we lost Toby to injury.

How am I speaking for you? If we'd got our 'big signing' right last year, we'd probably have won the title. Best attack, best defence over the last two years? We have a fantastic team.
You said why can't I get with what poch is building. I am on board with it.
I am just not pretending it will regularly win titles.
