Probably not too much, but we looked at him very hard 18 months ago, said no, and have not shown any interest since. I think that says all that needs to be said.
Personally i feel a back-up striker to Harry would be great for the club, i don't rate Janssen very highly, and i think we could be in trouble if for example Harry is out for 3-6 months. However Janssen has only had the one season so far, he may be great, he is only 23 after all.
I like Moussa Dembele from Celtic, and think signing him could be realistic for us, he's played in England before scoring 17 goals for Fulham in the Championship, last season he scored 32 for Celtic and got Champions League experience.
And to answer your question "doesn't it matter as long as we spend some money?" - I see no need to spend on players we do not need, so no im not looking for Spurs to spend for the sake of it.
How about you sammyspurs, anyone you would like to see come in?
I don't see doing well against League 1-level competition in Scotland as improvement. He went to an easier league, and scored. Not bad, but not good enough to be worth a look given what else is out there.I think he's improved a lot over the last 18 months personally, and feel if we did say no, we made a mistake.
That was after we had already pulled out of signing him because he reportedly failed our medical testing.Perhaps you're correct, however i dont think so, this is Celtic in the SPL, i don't think they have ever demanded over the top money for sales, Wanyama i think is their record sale and that was £12 million to Southampton. Dembele only cost them 500k 12 months ago.
Around 11pm deadline day assuming Barca's and our fax machine works.

You had quite a few good teams when I was growing up. You seemed to usually qualify for the cups too. Not as many good swedish players coming through these days or from scandinavia in general actually. I wonder why? Maybe its just a cycle & you will be pretty good again in a few years.I'm obviously biased due to nationality but I would really like it if Tottenham signed a young Swedish player and developed him. I don't think we've had a Swede since Ekman if my memory serves me right.
Someone like Sam Larsson could become something under Poch.
Sample size isn't large enough. Two good games is the same as how many Moussa Sissoko had at Euro 2016.I'm guessing you didnt see his performance vs Man City in the Champions League where he scored two goals and played fantastically?
He also played very well away from home in Germany v Monchengladbach - grabbed a goal there also.
We're on a upswing again slowly but steadily. With our national team in particular (thanks Hugo for the blunder in Stockholm) with a lot of promising young talent coming up like Forsberg (any PL team would be happy to have him), Nilsson Lindelöf, Ekwall, Sam Larsson, Jordan Larsson (Henrik Larsson's kid), Nyman etc as well as the guys still playing in Sweden. You had quite a few good teams when I was growing up. I rated edman. His goal against liverpool, wow.

We looked, and passed. Other clubs around Europe have also looked. And passed. Being a lower-league talent isn't enough.
But we did have that outlook when looking at Moussa Dembele, which is why we didn't pursue him and haven't since.I'm so glad Tottenham didn't have your outlook when looking at MK Dons and Dele Alli in lower league football.

Pleat brought Alli to the attention of Pochettino and Levy, and the choice was made. Pochettino and Levy were looking at Dembele as well. Dele made the grade for Pochettino. Moussa Dembele did not.I'm so glad Tottenham didn't have your outlook when looking at MK Dons and Dele Alli in lower league football.
I didn't mean it in a good way...

Don't blame me for Pochettino's choices.

In a way I think Zlatan halted development. He was so good that every other Swedish player was measured after him and rated a failure if you cannot measure up to him. I saw some numbers a while back that we've never had as many players abroad as we do now. Granted a lot of that is in leagues like Belgium, Holland, France, the German second division and Serie A but we still have guys out learning on the continent.
Sam Larsson is a guy I rate. Same age as Janssen and a speedy dribbler on the left midfield/wing. Only thing holding him back from starting in the national side really is that he competes with Forsberg.
Which is fine, you're allowed and welcome to your footballing opinions. I'm just offering the rebuttle that we looked at him before Celtic, and didn't like him, and there are reasons his success at Celtic may not be regarded as highly as you think it may deserve to be.I've not suggested you are to blame for Dembele going to Celtic.
It does seem like you have the opinion that Dembele wouldn't be good enough & shouldn't play for Spurs because 18 months ago we chose not to sign him. My opinion is, maybe we made a mistake and should go back in for him.
Lindelöf will do amazing in the PL me thinks. He's 23 (I think, I know he's not old) and his career has been pretty much a rocket since the 2015 U21 euros (which he wasn't even supposed to be in but got in last minute due to a injury). He was a regular for Benfica in Portugal and won a couple of trophies there and got regular CL football as well. He's now a first choice CB for our national side as well.Interesting. I can see how ibra could have that impact. Well I hope your youngsters turn out good.
That larsson does look tricky & fast which we could probably do with for some variation in our play.
I forgot about Lindelöf. Never heard of him until I saw man utd paid about 30m for him.
Do you think he will do well in the premiership?
