Levy can go on all he likes about transfer fees not being sustainable, and he may well be right, but if we're looking at our squad, and not paying top dollar in wages, then the only way it will be sustainable is if we are successful.

Successful as in winning things mainly. Otherwise the vultures will surely circle and start to pick off Dele, Toby, Dier, Kane even. Yes, and Pochettino. From there we're not far off looking at posts about getting behind Alan Pardew and wondering whether Tashan Oakley-Boothe can do a job up top.

I doubt that the new stadium is that much of a tie when puch comes to shove, neither is finishing 2nd and 3rd in and of itself
Also, even though I think finishing 2nd & above Woolwich is great, the players proved they couldn't care less about that when they went on their holidays & allowed Woolwich 2nd once they couldn't win the title.

They cared enough to right the mistake the following year, but we can ignore that because it is an inconvenient truth that gets in the way of looking at the most negative things we can.

This is a simple as I can put it:

  • To improve our squad we need players of equal/better ability than our current starting 11.

  • Players of that standard come with huge price tags and 100K+++ wages.

  • We don't and can't afford to pay the whole squad those types of wages.
Therefore finding the right player(s) to bring in is an extremely difficult task in our unique position.

We are neither a Chelsea / city / Utd where money is no concern nor are we a West Ham who might be able to spend a big fee and big wages on 1 player without having to do the same for the existing players.

We are operating in a very unique space.

You missed that we can also improve the current players we have.

ie the youngest squad in the league

ie like they have the past two seasons

For me real improvement in the squad will come from within.

On Sky Sports

"Former Hull manager Mike Phelan insists clubs must be willing to spend large sums of money if they wish to compete at the top of the Premier League."

Thanks for your opinion, irrelevant shite failed PL manager.

We don't need a good team of good players, or a good manager - we just need to simply buy the title. Right.

I love it when we start pissing off the establishment

No I think they wanted to finish the season as strong & as well as they could & go out on a high.
We were smashing teams & it was a shame the season ended.

I don't think they did it because finishing above Woolwich & getting 2nd was super important to them.
In fact we secured 2nd before some of those games we played amazing in.
So I don't think the motivation was to get 2nd as we already had it.

You make about me being negative but in reality I don't think many players in any team (not just spurs) are that bothered by 2nd or 3rd place.
So I guess am being negative about all teams in that position.
But feel free to say its just spurs.

if say city can't win the title & can only finish 2nd or 3rd, I doubt their players will care much about which 1 of those positions they finish in.

I take it thatbon the last day of the season you went around the changing room and took a survey of the players' thoughts and feelings did you?

What? Why are you're being so weird.
Its just my opinion they wanted to finish strongly & go out on a high.
Like yours is they were playing to get 2nd.
Neither of us have proof either way.
Calm down.

this it totally exposing frauds. For years managers have left clubs saying they were never backed in the transfer market, or they need one or two players. Never have I heard a coach say "Just didn't do my job very well".

Poch is the painter and decorator who comes round your house and says "To get a good finish I must strip all the old paint off and work from a new surface, sure it might take more time but it's a better finish and will last longer saving you time in the long run" Cunte et al are the wankers who turn up, whack a top coat on with lots of dust and hair and fuck off after half a day leaving a shit job behind.

Imagine this, a manager who has to work with a club from the ground up, getting continuity from fetus to first. Other managers must be shitting it. Can hear the other club Directors now "So you see what Spurs have done..." Gulp!

And Cunte openly talking about Kane. What an utter wanker, didn't love the bloke but thought he was a step up from Jose. very little in it TBH.

"Ross told me at the end of the season he wanted another challenge," Koeman said. "His personal situation is really not so difficult: we made a good offer to him to sign a new contract, he declined that contract and told me that he is looking for a new challenge.

"It is not Everton future any more, it is his decision, I need to respect that and then we will see what happens but what I heard from the board is there is not really an offer on the table for Ross.

Serious question:
1) Does anyone think our current squad can make an impact on the champions league?

2) Does anyone think this squad could win a cup while resting a few key players for most the competition.

*it's a 'No' and 'No' from me

Problem is you say anything negative towards levy's Stance in the market, you get the fish smelling bastard "smoked salmon " and his sidekick "sammy " on here hunting you down.

It's almost like you can't say anything about the bald one without being shot down. Some of us here can see the positives he has done but can also see we are being let down as a fan base this summer massively. Both Levy and Poch to blame by the sounds of it.

There should be a fine balance between bringing up youth players and signing players of quality. You can't tell me there is no player Spurs have scouted that is not good enough to improve us? Because this is currently what levy is saying. What the hell are we paying our scouts for then? Feel totally let down because it just feels like one big excuse to not do any bussiness this window. It will cost us big time because our squad is not good enough to juggle both the CL and league. The likes of smoked mackerel and CO on here seem to think we can just waltz the CL etc with Josh Onomah as back up. Absolutely ridiculous.
