Nor me. I don't pretend to have any insight into people like that - I'm just guessing. I don't think John gets any pleasure from supporting Spurs for example - I don't see how it's possible.

I guess others can answer for most of that, I hope every Spurs fan wants the best for the club.
In terms of what I would personally consider a good window from here on well here would be my break down.
Ok/reasonable window
We get Aurier to replace Walker and Barkley to offer the attacking cover we obviously need.
Good window
We get Aurier, Barkley and a decent wing forward that Poch will play (unlike Nkouduo)
Excellent window
We get Aurier, Barkley, a top class wing forward and complete the youth signings of Sancho and Sessegnon.
Shit window
We fail to land players capable of pushing the first team in either RB or AM positions (i.e. Cheap alternatives that don't work) and fall on any other targets.
He can't possibly come out with shit like "We're going to bring in players that will pressure others", then just bring in Sanchez.
I think we will sign more players, but this is cutting it mighty fine. I wouldn't be surprised with some more stupid £30mil panic buys on players who obviously won't work out.
It's the hope that kills you. That might as well have been written with Spurs in mind. After 45 years I have learned not to build up my hopes, it usually (ie, 99% of the time) ends in disapointment.
If things do work out for the best then it is a nice unexpected bonus.
