Genuine Question:

For those who seem to delight in the negativity of things, choosing to believe the worst of the club, insisting we won't sign anyone, concluding the window before it is closed....

...if we don't sign anyone, will you be happy you were right, or disappointed?

:sonhmm:
I will be hugely disappointed. For me it would be a devastating kick in the teeth for the fans, and a disgraceful public humiliation of our manager who has achieved so much in his 3 years at the club.

I guess others can answer for most of that, I hope every Spurs fan wants the best for the club.

In terms of what I would personally consider a good window from here on well here would be my break down.

Ok/reasonable window

We get Aurier to replace Walker and Barkley to offer the attacking cover we obviously need.

Good window

We get Aurier, Barkley and a decent wing forward that Poch will play (unlike Nkouduo)

Excellent window

We get Aurier, Barkley, a top class wing forward and complete the youth signings of Sancho and Sessegnon.

Shit window

We fail to land players capable of pushing the first team in either RB or AM positions (i.e. Cheap alternatives that don't work) and fall on any other targets.
Yeah, I make that spot on. Back in July I remember posting that that your "Ok/reasonable window" would be hitting par, assuming we sold Wimmer and got a decent replacement. Davinson would seem to be fair a bit above just "decent" according to most opinions, so I'd score it Par +0.5

I'm amazed there's been no signings today. Worrying.

Foyth is done otherwise Wimmer wouldn't have been allowed to leave. Aurier is still as it was as there is no update regarding his Visa so no surprise there and the others, well we still have just over 48 HOURS!!!!!!

If Spurs had any sense they would have used today to line up a backup RB as a precaution to Aurier just in case and I'm sure there has been a bollock load of calls made.

We'll be fine. We'll get our minimum 3 signings

Really expected a signing or two today.

It's gonna be a busy 48 hours...

Foyth will be done.
Aurier..... Surely will be too.

And then is there a third? An injured Barkley who won't play till December? Hardly strengthening our attack. Or is there a Son-esque rabbit to be pulled from Levy's hat?

I think it's interesting Poch put a number on the amount of signings he wanted because if they don't arrive it just gives the media more ammo.

If I remember correctly he said 4 (not including Gazzumo) - we currently have one.

Buckle up boys.

Son was a high profile player. Double figures seasons since 12/13, apart from his debut season for us. Worked his way up the top.

Sissoko didn't make any sense last summer. It was a panic buy. Maybe useful as an impact player, but that's it. Great physcial ability, nothing more, nothing less.
He was also largely considered a failed signing who couldn't hack it in the physical PL and was fucking us off for a penny-ante olympic tourney that most wanted rid of a year ago.

Not saying Sissoko is better than Son - Son is younger and thus far has a better track record and has given every indication to believe he will continue to improve - but Sissoko has appeared 52 times for France, and clearly has talent. Throwing that away after a rough 1st season would be ridiculous.

He clearly wants to stay and fight on to redeem himself - we should give him the chance to come good and support his efforts every step of the way. We sit here and smash Rose for wanting away for money, then shit on a talented player who wants to stay and fight his place in the squad and not run from it...makes no sense.

I think some fans should just accept that we won't be title contenders this season. Not in that shit stadium. We should focus our efforts in making top 4 and going as far as we can in the CL. And an FA cup along the way would be lovely.

I also don't believe Liverpool will be our rivals for top 4 this season. They are making some pretty serious statement signings if they get all their targets by deadline day. They will be tittle contenders along with United this season. The ones we should be focusing on in gazumping for top 4 this season are City and Chelsea imo. Not convinced by either of these two tbh.

Spurs should be very afraid of going to Anfield this season and the return match Their defence might not be best but Salah and Mane will rip most teams apart as we saw on Sunday.!!

it does seem a shame that we haven't signed players earlier in the window. last summer we gave wanyama a great head start to the season. it has an effect. bonding, comprehension, con padres.

the club have their reasons though, i'm sure. it is a shame however, almost a handicap.

Please, if this team clicks in for the season, We could beat everybody like in the PL last year. Stadium change and Walker sale are just minor inconviences.
