We'll end up with (in my vaguely informed opinion) by the window closes
  • Ross Barkley (I estimate £23m with add-ons)
  • Juan Foyth (probably £12m with add-ons)
  • Serge Aurier (around €25m all in)
  • Ryan Sessegnon (around £20m + add-ons)
and maybe even something a bit audacious. So easily £100m spend.

Yet again, we'll have managed to improve nearly every area of the team and maybe even hit net spend by selling players like Wimmer for £18m. I'm sure someone will find a reason to burst the balloon of joy, though.

Your new name is Mr Fifty Fifty

Aurier is all done, pending paperwork. Barkley has apparently been sewn up pending formalities ('official' bid follows informal negotiations and contract talks etc.), so will be easy to conclude. Foyth is apparently all done pending WP.

The only one with a bit of work involved would be Sessegnon, but it's not going to be too much of a pain - he's not involved in Internationals (that I know of), and is surely no more than 30 mins away from Hotspur Way at any point, even if he's at home.

Nice One from Mr Fifty Fifty

weir weird weird window
Llorente came absolutely out of nowhere
Aurier is not someone that we'd have even considered 2 months ago
3rd choice Gk that will never play a game
Foyth - again 2 months ago if you'd said we were signing Juan Foyth for £10m you'd have to spend a long time on google to understand who he is and why Poch would want him
Sanchez- Potentially world class CB who i never expected us to even consider because he'd be too expensive/prefer to go somewhere else
Plus Barkley not happening despite it being constantly tipped to happen all summer

Apparently Barkley turned down Chelsea after Everton refused to listen to any Tottenham offers. He is to have said that he didn't want Everton to try and force him into anything and didn't even make it as far as the medical. Fuck Everton and it's obvious he wants to come here.

Gooner money running the club?

People shouldn't be upset missing Barkley now.

He does NOTHING till January.

Chance for someone else to step up.

Who knows. Might not even need him in Jan

Not a perfect window, but some thoughts:
  • Davinson Sanchez looks the absolute shit and I dare say our back three will be significantly improved by having him in it.
  • This in turn allows Dier to play more at CDM (a happier Dier is a good thing) and lessens the burden on Wanyama if we want to play our preferred back-three formation constantly.
  • Walker out, Aurier in. As mentioned earlier, I think he's possibly an improvement (certainly in terms of footballing brain) and we'll have the equivalent of two Danny Roses.
  • Llorente (who I always wanted us to sign but it's a shame it took this long) has proven last year that he's good in the Premier League. Also has European experience. He'll be a fantastic third choice striker and option to bring on when trying to bombard a parked bus.
Yes, I still wanted us to sign some pacey players - but between these additions and Lamela (hopefully) coming back from injury before too long, we'll be stronger than last year for sure.

One last thing: there was only so much we could do before we get that huge increase in wage spending that can come with the new stadium. Just one more year...
