If Bale stays he is showing himself up as a man who favours money over football

You can say the same about every top player in the league - you argue we don't pay our players enough, want big transfers on huge salaries, and now call out a player for wanting the same ... make your mind up

RM gave Bale a long contract to prevent him going anywhere else, that was their decision. If Zidane doesn't want Bale, and wants to break that contract, why the fuck should Bale have to accept a pay cut? why would anyone do that?

Bale's been there, seen it, won it all ... he's got nothing to prove

Bale is 30 years old. He’s not going to get another contract near what he has now. He should show up to work, give an honest effort and collect his checks. If RM want him gone, buy out the contract.

I have more respect for players willing to take slightly less money to help the team sign other players, or because they are where they prefer to be. But I don’t begrudge anyone with a contract that refuses to bale the club out (no pun intended) by agreeing to just give up millions of dollars.

It was also Bale's decision to SIGN said contract. Signing himself to a contract virtually no other team can afford to take on.

It's RMs prerogative not to play him.

It's a pretty simlpe legal situation if you jettison any sentiment; footballing or otherwise.

100% nail on head. Real Madrid didn't twist his arm to sign, just like he didn't twist Real Madrids arm, it's a two way street.

If I was Gareth I'd stay, see out my contract unless every penny of the remaining 3 seasons is subsidised safe in the knowledge that I was the most successful British Footballer ever in Europes biggest club competition. 4 Champions Leagues to his name and he gets treated like absolute shit. They don't deserve to get their own way on this one, personally I hope he stays but I fancy a solution will be found. If it isn't Gareth is well within his rights to turn up for training and literally earn the easiest £600k per week anyone on the planet is earning at the moment. Good on him and karma to Madrid for using money as their only solution instead of football ethics

Too much sentiment and emotion indulged my friend.

This is essentially a legal matter.

As long as Bale is prepared to train for cash, one could interpret it's a good Karma against a dis-likable club, touche.....

However, If he is not, he's pretty much screwed himself by signing the a deal he should have realised the rest of football are unlikely to be able to buy him out of.

I've no love for RM, but the fact that he's an outsider there is nothing new.... Bale evidently saw compensatory pound signs when renewing his deal.

I've never believed this tbh, I think Aulas used Levy as a scapegoat to the fans for losing a popular player.

If Levy had pissed him off, surely he would have refused to sell Lloris, rather than sell him be bitter about it.
Lyon were under financial pressures (stadium) at the time and, though this may be hard to believe, Aulas felt as if Levy took advantage of that situation. Of course this is rich as Aulas scours the French Football realm to take advantage of other teams in less stable financial situations than he finds OL since their stadium is done. That cheeky fecker tried to take advantage of Lille (not financially stable) last season and get Pepe on the cheap. And you know he would have turned around and sold him for 4x times more this year. So it was hypocritical for him to complain, yes, but he probably did have issues.

Is it safe to assume Atletico don't have a scout working in England?

Bale should just view his next 3 years as someone who just needs to train and pick up his cheque.

It's Real Madrid who've shot themselves in the foot, and long may it continue.

Bale can sign up for some night courses or start a business or whatever in the time he's not having to fulfil duties which Zidane refuses to bestow upon him. In fact, Zidane should man the fuck up and resolve issues. It is a position of privilege where he can ask Madrid to get rid of Bale. Fuck Zidane.

Hope Bale sticks it out and Madrid bleed cash.

If you need motivating for this game maybe professional footballer is the wrong career choice. I don’t trust Trippier in this game, I think he comes up short. Aurier for me if he’s fit. It’s the obvious worry whoever starts. We are weak at RB and that worries me come June 1st.

They’re only human.....maybe he feels the moans and groans and lack of support from the fans (while they sing Janssens name en masse and chant Yiddo) along with being sold (if true) 2wks before the CL final is a bit much.

You got players like Lamela, and Trippier is carted out after his first poor season dogged with injuries. He cost 3M, personally I think people forget that, and he’s worth keeping another season in my view.

The human factor outrides the professional one in many cases. He may be motivated.....just not as motivated as someone who feels appreciated at the club.

Would you want to perform your heart out for a fanbase that thinks you should be at QPR, with no incentive to keep your place in the team, knowing someone is being lined up to replace you and a fear of having the same injuries next season at your new club?

I hope he does really well if he goes to Napoli and I think he will....they’re a good side and he deserves top football.

Edit: just seen the Atletico rumours now, ....apparently Trippiers not a top 4 RB though despite supposed interest from some of Europe’s top teams.

If you're RM tho.... Why not just call his bluff bench him.... If you gotta pay him regardless, why a) appease him more than you have to and b) furnish another club with Bales abilities?

If he gives a shit about playing football whatsoever he'll meet them half-way eventually if they hardball him for long enough. If they're already resigned to paying him full, they have nothing to lose whilst anything 'gained' is a bonus.
So you want RM to pay him 17m / year to sit bench for 3 years and have no use for him?

What a fantastic business decision

Bale was no innocent flower when he forced through the move to Madrid. Sulking, faking an injury, refusing to take part in pre season games, basically demanding that he be sold back in the summer of 2013. Real were cunts with how they pursued him. Tbh both are welcome to each other and now karma is biting both their sorry asses

While I softened my stance on Bale, I can’t help agree
