Just me, or does Gomes have a bit of the 'Adam Levine' about him?

Everton fans seem to be a bit pissed off that he may go to Spurs over them and that they should just pay up and sign him permanently, so he must have had a decent season.

£26,000,000 is a steal in this market though. Especially when it'll likely be a fixed price of £10/£16,000,000 and a further £10/£16,000,000 in instalments.
a couple of months ago they were mainly critical of him, not worth signing. Start of the year he was god and now they like him again - so an up and down season.

From what I have seen / read he will be decent in games but against the top teams (and those with pace) he will struggle. He is one paced (slow) but good vision and passing range - especially long passing. For that money just to have bodies in the MF it does seem like a decent deal.

I don't really think he's better than Sissoko or winks and we need to buy players who can basically be an upgrade on those two (obviously they stay at the club too). We need proper quality in CM and spending 30m of that on him isn't doing that. I'd be a bit disappointed if that eventuates tbh

He's OK I guess but not one to set the pulse beating.

On the positive side
1. Versatile - Main position central but also adept on the left or right
2. Has played already 1 year of football in PL (+25 apps). Should bed in quicker than say signing straight from Barca.
3. Style - Not his but Everton's under Silva. Whilst Everton have been shite for most of this season the last 10 games they have been quite good, playing football close to what Silva is known for (similar to Poch, biggest similarities would be how aggressive his teams play, they will absolutely give us a game this weekend mark my words).
4. Good price
5. He's a midfielder lol.

Negatives
6. From what I've seen he's a tempo setter, he is not a press breaker either via dribbling or passing (something I would much rather us find). In fact, this signing has the potential to block Skipp's route. I'd rather play Skipp.
7. Lacks the power and dynamism
8. Not a dribbler or known for incisive passing

Decent enough player, lots of technical ability and can use both feet but like Llorente he's looks quite laboured. Fernando gets away with it as he wins duels and holds the ball up well. From midfield we need a little more. This however isn't anything the coaching staff and Poch don't already know so if we sign him there must be a gap they see him filling...

With a midfield currently consisting of Skipp, Winks, Dier, Wanyama & Sissoko I definitely see the need for more than one midfielder joining us this summer.

If Gomes comes in and starts 15-20 games across all competitions for a few not far off what Bournemouth paid for Solanke, I'd be pretty happy with that. Give Skipp a loan somewhere so it doesn't hinder his development and be brutally honest about the options having both Dier & Wanyama in our team gives us and I think overall a player like Gomes coming in would be a positive step in the right direction.

Gomes, Atal, Ndombele, Sessegnon or Grealish for the HG need and that would look like a pretty decent way to kick on. Time will tell but Gomes for £26m for me ticks all the boxes to get our squad going up the required and realistic levels for continuing financially realistic and organic growth. It's a good price for a player with talent to tap into.
