Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Don't generalize. Just because you don't know about a player doesn't mean everyone else doesn't. I, personally, have seen at least 50 (conservative estimate) of his games and I know a few on here that have seen significantly more than his CL games.

50 of his games? Fair enough, I didn't know so many Lyon games were on TV. So is he really worth the 60-80 mill we might have to pay? What are his strengths and weaknesses

How about Fekir. Could he fit into our side if Eriksen leaves.

With Marseille missing out on CL football they are going to have to have a bit of a firesale.

I would not say no to Thauvin, Lopez or Sanson to be honest. Ocampos would also be a good squad addition.

Thauvin managed to develop into more of what I hoped Lamela would. Very similar players, but Thauvin definitely better now, works hard, produces, I’d take him as a direct swap for Lamela, but there are others I’d be trying for first.

I really like Maxi Lopez, busy little fucker with a good brain, again, would definitely have on my list, maybe not first or second choice but one I’d happily take if we can’t get top targets.

Ocampos, not so keen on, didn’t realise how big he was, in real life he looks huge.

Sanson is one of those steady Eddies, good all rounder, tidy, hard working, versatile but doesn’t excel at anything. I’d pass.

Would never slag this kind of move off if the scouts and Poch are happy.

Could be a Brooks-esque coup.

Would be a brilliant signing. Huge potential. He's got a Ronaldoesque physique. He became a starter for Leeds until the incident where he collapsed on the bench. Struggled to make an impact after he returned following his recovery. The only worry would be if has some kind of long term health issue. Was explained as a virus at the time but the fact he didn't return to his previous level is worrying. 10-15 mill would be worth taking the chance I think.

Don’t ask todd1882 todd1882 about Fekir, he’s Fekist.

Fekir wouldn’t be a Like for like replacement for the Eriksen 8/10 hybrid we have developed, he fundamentally plays as a ARM, ACM, WF, F9 but would almost certainly be capable of chipping in with a similar combo of goals/assists (maybe more goals than Eriksen maybe a couple less assists??). He’s not going to play in midfield like Eriksen does, or work as hard all o et the pitch, but he’s very talented, clever, composed on the ball in forward areas, and can dribble and create and finish.

I’ve seen a shitload of NDombele too over the last 2/3 season, got a good skill set, strong, reasonably tenacious, can dribble and great eye for an incisive pass. Still young enough to develop on too. The only slight issue might be his energy/dynamism, the PL is ferocious. Bit like Dembele sometimes looked a bit one paces. But I’d still take him all day long. Like him a lot.

Aouar is another worth a punt, lively, technically good 8 who can see a pass and scores the odd goal.

Mendy the left back would probably be top of my LB list of upgrades. Biggish, Strong, athletic, good engine, good technique and pretty good end product - or good intentions, he gets his head up - when he gets forward.

He started just 4 games last season and in 2 of them got subbed off at half time.

He did tend to come on at half time a lot though so he has plenty of minutes under his belt at such a young age. I'd be happy to spend £10,000,000 on him and loan him straight back out to Leeds for the season. He needs to be playing at that age.

That was me. And I disagree. We are not really fine. Yes, we're in the Champion's League final, and that is fucking brilliant. But I don't think the process by which we find, sign, coach, and sell players is brilliant. In fact, I think it's rather the opposite. And I think that getting process right matters for being able to go to Champion's League finals regularly, rather than just when the stars align for us.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Process fucking matters. I wish I could agree with this a thousand times. It is why we fear that this full rebuild will go on until the last day of the window, preventing new signings (IF we have them) from bedding in, hamper another season with poor, sluggish performances and/or results, and have us back in a similar situation next spring.

Our process hasn't changed for recruitment and I think that is what Poch was speaking about. He always reminds us how important preseason is and perhaps being brave is getting at least some of the recruits in early and risking not selling off some is what's needed.

João Felix has a younger brother named Hugo who is apparently producing even better numbers in the Benfica youth team than João did at that age (15).

If we really want to be ahead of the rest maybe we should swoop in for young Hugo? :sonhmm:

Not sure if he’s been mentioned but Matuidi is out of contract next summer I believe. A proven winner who would improve our squad IMO. 32 so getting on but would be great business at 15 mill or less

Bale fascination is odd.

Really truly ex-girlfriend situation. He couldn't give a shit about us and probably never has. Yet people want him back.

If he was never a Spurs player in the first place, no one would bat a fucking eyelid.

If he ends up at Man United or Chelsea and smashes in 25 - 30 goals for the next 2-3 years i'm sure there'll be a few who bat more than a fucking eyelid.

He's still got at least 2 or 3 years left at the top of his game, the guy's a freak of nature and an amazing player.

Baffles me why anyone wouldn't want him back

Gareth Bale, who's STILL never topped the goalscoring season he had at Spurs 6 years ago (despite La Liga being a bunch of "farmers") is NEVER going to go to Man Utd or Chelsea and score 25 - 30 goals in a season, let alone 3 years in a row.

I almost find myself wanting Bale to sign for Man Utd just so he can flop.

What'll happen instead is he'll stay at Madrid next season because they wont find a team wanting to pay what Bale feels he's worth.
