When you break it down;

Wanyama - is he good enough?
Dier - Should be a centre half, but is good depth.
Dele - much more suited to a second striker position.
Eriksen - Wasted when in a deeper position, plus question marks over his future.

That leaves us Winks, Sissoko and potentially NDombele as our only natural centre mids. We need one more on top of that, whether that Tielemans, Van de Beek, Bentaleb or Lo Celso.

Onomah isn’t counted as he needs to be sold. Skipp needs more time.
VdB and Lo Celso are not natural centre mids either. More AM. GLC offers more defensive quality than Eriksen... and with NDombele in there, there is no need for Eriksen to go into the midfield.

I'd be hugely surprised if we end up going for Van De Beek. Hand on heart I don't think he's got enough quality for us. He's a nice, tidy youngster who'd be better off growing somewhere like Everton first. He's good but he won't improve what we have and need in my honest opinion after watching him a few times.

Got skill but the required amount to challenge like we'd expect big money signings to do so? I'm not so sure and for the rumoured fee they're after, absolutely no chance.

i think hes a good player, but as long as we have dele and eriksen on the books, there's no need for another CAM. if we lost eriksen and got beaten to lo celso, he might be worth a look vs bruno fernandes (assuming his man u move isn't already a done deal).

Agreed. I can't see us genuinely being interested in him unless certain things go against us as you have highlighted.

Eriksen, Dele, Lo Celso, Bruno Fernandes are all streets ahead of him talent wise at present. Van De Beek I see as a really underwhelming signing and one that I hope would be towards the lower end of our shortlist.

Fekir is another. There are a fair few I would be valuing higher than Donny Van De Beek as it stands so I really hope we are able to get a few solid pieces of work done. The lack of any serious right back links surprises me though. I can see us holding off another year on that area if it means we can secure better quality in other departments. It's not ideal but genuinely apart from Wan-Bissaka and Atal I can't think of any I'd really like. Meunier perhaps? There's a Spanish kid called Pedro Porro who got a decent review or two based on his performances last season but apart from that I'm left scratching my head about a realistic or viable option in that part of the pitch.

I love Winks, and want him as an integral part of the team, but Tielemans offers more of a goal threat as well.

We need the depth. City can rest De Bruyne, David Silva and Fernandinho and bring in Gundogan, Bernardo and Foden. Liverpool have Fabinho, Keita, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Milner, Chamberlain.

Last year it was a massive problem for us, seems like we are learning from that.

Exactly and moreover it helps to have different players you go to whether you’re playing Citeh, Everton or Brighton - each representing a different challenge.

He changed the game when he came on for the Netherlands against Portugal. If we let him go to Everton somebody needs sacking.
