Even West Spam have managed to sign a player. Fornals from Villarreal for 25 mill.

Which is exactly why we need to be more aggressive in the market, that's my point mate. We don't stand a chance if other teams get involved because Levy will never match the wages or transfer fee.

We need to go in with lucrative offers from the start and really win the player and agents over, if we aren't going to compete on a monetary level then we need to be clever, like Poch has alluded to, he has also alluded to getting business done early.

Levy thinks we can take it down to the wire and win, which we simply can't, unless other clubs suddenly become disinterested and when we are talking about the quality of player we are talking about that simply isn't going to happen.
That's fair enough.

But Levy is Levy.

That's fair enough.

But Levy is Levy.

That's the problem mate and I don't see a solution to it.

Levy, imo, would rather miss out on a player and get a cheaper secondary target that clubs aren't really interested in signing and hope Poch improves them rather than go in early and feel like he hasn't got a good deal on a player but actually get a first choice target that would be good enough to get into our starting 11 from day one.

That's the problem, clubs above us in terms of monetary means will simply buy players and bench them just so others can't strengthen, if we continue to operate the way we do we will not secure the type of player that will take us to that final step, we will just remain where we are or worse, go backwards.

You shouldn't try writing pragmatic and thought out theories on this thread, this is the 'Levy is a bastard because he never signed Messi' thread.

I say this for anyone interested in their mental health, stop worrying about spurs and transfers, the season is months away and nothing you say or write here has any influence or relationship to what the club will do.

Take up something productive, improve yourself in some way, learn yoga, don't look back on June, July and most of August as the time you spent waiting for transfers that never happened and getting angry about it.

I know this has no effect on most, but I tried...
I agree, but I am convinced Kane reads the spurs forums

I disagree.

I think that now we have everything sorted out we'll see a lot of movement with the players we want.

It's about patience, I think.

Fair enough, however I always felt this transfer window and not previous is to judge. Previously we where saving for a stadium and thus limited, that is now done, the money is flowing in, we no longer need to save and only have to pay the outstanding debt which can be refinanced.

Now we are in this position we can see whether or not ENIC are genuinely ambitious beyond the building trade. The window has only been open a short time. If we get 4-5 top players (which we need irrespective of Eriksen or Toby) like Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon etc then it for me shows ENIC is truly ambitious.

On the other hand if we sign 3-4th Best options for cheap while Toby and Eriksen leave it will show that ENIC have perhaps taken this club as far as they can and need to sell up.

This is the window to judge them not previous ones and the window is far from closed. They do well we clap, they do badly we boo, but probably best to hold off judgement for now.

I hope you're right mate, I really do, hand on heart if that does happen I will apologise for doubting ENIC and Levy.

I just don't see that being the case, I wish I was optimisic and maybe I am being cynical but I just don't believe Levy can see past his own need to feel like he has got a good deal on a player and if the deal doesn't match the valuation in his mind then he isn't interested basically.

Isn't offering lucrative offers trying to compete on a monetary level??

It is but we can't compete when other clubs get involved, that's why it's important that when we first bid for a player we make the offer irresitable to the club, agent and the player, I feel like our approach is about waiting to see if we can get a deal rather than trying to secure the target before other clubs get involved.

And same the other way.

If we do fuck all I'll put my tail between my legs and hold my hands up.

But I'm confident we're making a move this summer.
