Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Fair enough, however I always felt this transfer window and not previous is to judge. Previously we where saving for a stadium and thus limited, that is now done, the money is flowing in, we no longer need to save and only have to pay the outstanding debt which can be refinanced.

Now we are in this position we can see whether or not ENIC are genuinely ambitious beyond the building trade. The window has only been open a short time. If we get 4-5 top players (which we need irrespective of Eriksen or Toby) like Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon etc then it for me shows ENIC is truly ambitious.

On the other hand if we sign 3-4th Best options for cheap while Toby and Eriksen leave it will show that ENIC have perhaps taken this club as far as they can and need to sell up.

This is the window to judge them not previous ones and the window is far from closed. They do well we clap, they do badly we boo, but probably best to hold off judgement for now.

I agree with everything you have said here, I am just saying that I believe they will let us down.

Classic Claud.

It is but we can't compete when other clubs get involved, that's why it's important that when we first bid for a player we make the offer irresitable to the club, agent and the player, I feel like our approach is about waiting to see if we can get a deal rather than trying to secure the target before other clubs get involved.
It depends really if we need 3 players - 1 or 2 - and what Poch would prefer 3 second choice vs 1 first and one third. We cant compete monetary going balls deep to get the singings over the line for all 3.

I cant answer that but it must be a consideration.

It seemed we took the risk and failed last year (we know we were in for De Jong) - we will see this year.

And same the other way.

If we do fuck all I'll put my tail between my legs and hold my hands up.

But I'm confident we're making a move this summer.

Hope you're right mate, the whole reason I am so worried about this whole thing is because I love this club and I feel like this window will make or break us.

Last season (other than our CL run) was a warning sign, I hope Levy can see that.

I agree, but we're in now. We're home.

We have the revenue to compete.

I'm choosing to trust the club at this point.

They've got us to a CL final. We're doing alright.

Well if Hoddle is to be believed, Poch has had money to spend, which means that he has likely been turning down targets because he believes they wouldn't improve us.

I get the feeling Poch is incredibly ambitious and he knows to take that final step we are going to need players that could walk into any clubs starting 11 from day one and improve them.

How many people in our squad make 200k a week? That's why I'm shocked.
Kane in on £200k/week. Next highest I think is Dele on £150k/week (I believe Son is on the same has been offered the same). Rumor is we offered Eriksen around £170k a week.

All of these numbers do not include incentives, which reportedly are significant (Kane can earn an additional £30M in bonuses over his 6 year deal on top of the £60M in salary)

Ndombele could be making that money at Spurs in a couple years if he's amazing, but Levy has always been a "show me" kinda guy with contracts. Not just incentives but he's always been willing to sign players to new contracts if they earn them on the pitch.

To be fair, most clubs are like this, including the mega rich clubs, but especially our more direct financial rivals. Mo Salah didn't make £200k a week until after his first year at Liverpool, for instance. Prior to that he was closer to £100k/week I believe.

I imagine he was offered £100 a week with possible incentives bringing it up into the £7.0-7.5/year range. He's making £20k a week now, so I don't think 5x his pay is out of line.
