Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I am amazed by people that get offended by language. It's a really fascinating thing.

Even moreso when using terms like cunt, then having a go at someone else's language.

Humans be crazy.

I don't get offended by language, the term cunt is a general slur, it's not something with a history behind it (as far as I am aware.)

The term retarded is literally used as a slur towards disabled people, you wouldn't use the N word to insult people either, both could be considered just "words" but their significance in history when that history involves discrimination is the differentiating factor here mate.

And no, I am not some social justice type thats offended by everything, I just believe that you shouldn't say things online to people that you wouldn't say to them in person.

Like you know, telling people to kill themselves or using language that would be considered hate speech under law.

How can we become a rich club if we don't maximise our profits? How can we speculate to accumulate if we don't have the money to speculate with? We need to balance the books and we need to have money in the bank in case our investments don't pay off, and this is what Levy seems to do best, it's why we're the only club to make it from mid-sized, mid-table to the top end of the table in the Premier league era without big oil money.

I don't have the answer to that question mate but it's a question that both myself, many others and our manager seemingly want an answer to because like I said, the alternative is defeatism or acceptance of what we have and wanting nothing more.

You're right in what you say. And I understand why.

I just find it fascinating where different people draw their lines.

I am getting more & more hopeful of Eriksen staying. Not many clubs around that he would want to leave for & who want him.
Do we really want a player here who only stayed as a bigger club didn’t come in for him? It’s like when the club is about to close and all that’s left are the fat chicks and you decide it’s better than going to bed alone, but your hearts not really in it and your just fucking away thinking about the sexy chicks that left earlier with the rich guys.......

Can someone tell me what we do next summer if we spend 150M now and don’t win anything?
Levy will seek guarantees from CL, PL, FA and Carabaoa to win all 4 trophies. Failing that spend 300M next season.

On serious note:
1. The squad is not good enough to compete for trophies, in the PL for example Liverpool and Mancity have better squads.
2. We need a midfielder as replacement for Dembele.
3. We need to bolster the right back.
4. We need a second striker instead of ageing Llorenete.
5. Vorm replacement?
6. Theses are the minimum requirements and needs immediate attention.

The club is not spending for the sake of spending. Not improving the squad and staying still while every one else improves is going backward. See the points gap between us and city/liverpool compared to the season before.

The above does not apply if you do not have ambition.

A few quid in the bank and some are ready to blow it all on some unknown quantity foreigners.....what happened to our youth policy and our pride in home grown talented players coming through?

I want to see Skippy in our midfield next season.

I don't know why comments like that are ridiculed , Levy hasn't built the stadium for the fans he's built it to generate greater revenue , the additional revenue will be greater than the repayments. It's a sign of ambition but what sort of ambition ? To make more money for himself or to make more money to improve the playing staff or both.
Good post. People speak as if there is no buisness gain by getting a new stadium. As though it's purely to make us a better football team.

State of yourself.

Contradictory, double-standard wielding, sanctimonious, victim-card playing moron.

Good luck on the pony.

What the fuck are you going on about? Me saying that you calling my logic "retarded" is wrong and that I don't like people telling me to kill myself is me playing the "victim-card" ?

There is no double standard here unless you think me calling you a cunt for saying my logic is retarded is a double standard?

I haven't contradicted myself either I have been pretty fucking consistent with my opinion this entire time and if you bothered to read my posts you would know that.

But seeing as someone could easily, and in fact has, misconstrue your cosigning of CG's posts I find it peculiar that you didn't take this opportunity to to knowingly condemn such statements.

My acknowledging he was correct about something doesn't equate to a wholesale "cosigning" of all his posts and comments.

...Besides, like i noted, where was my 'cavalry'? (If indeed universal standards are genuinely what are in question here).

I've clarified my position, so aside from a few WUMs; at this juncture who cares?

Mad how people now take offence when another poster wished death on you.

I just find it fascinating where different people draw their lines.

I guess different people have different life perspectives that make some words more offensive than others, mostly it's a personal experience thing I guess.

I do think that some words however are universally offensive and for good reason, racism for example, those words aren't and shouldn't be acceptable anywhere.

I feel the same way about ableist language tbh and I think most people agree with that as well, anyway, I don't want to take this off topic.

Going to leave the thread and enjoy the rest of my day mate, hope you do as well, I think you're a great poster on here.

Liverpool done really well In that they strengthened where they most needed to, but they were also lucky in that The players they brought came in and performed and made the difference, the thing that worries me is what happens if we do back poch and he spends £150 million on Ndombele and le celsco and they don’t instantly impress, surely if levy back poch with that kind of money then he needs to start winning things, top 4 suddenly becomes the bare minimum , we are at a cross roads now with the club, and with the amount of money we could be spending on new players we can’t afford for any expensive flops!

Not sure what to make of this thread, seems to be all over the shop. However what I will say is perhaps previous is not best to judge Levy/ENIC on, we have been saving for a stadium for years, we have now built it. We have gone from a guy earning £30K a year saving for a deposit to a guy earning 90K a year with a large mortgage. Funds previously used for development of infrastructure can now be placed for player development.

This is the transfer window to judge, not prior ones, this one. If ENIC provide good funds and bring in top players we will know they are following the Liverpool model of growth, if they let us and Poch down we know they are following more along the lines of the Woolwich model.

Early signs are good and sounds like we are hitting top players capable of improving the squad significantly. I get why fans are skeptical but this is a new reality for the club. ENIC get to show they are world leaders in football or just glorified top class property developers. Let’s give them the full window to judge.
