Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Given the comments being made that "we must spend more' on transfers, might be worth summarising where we are by comparison with other big European and other PL clubs.

Last year's results to June 2018 put us up to 10th place in terms of gross revenues - the extra income we got from being at Wembley took us away from the likes of Juventos but we are still behind Real Madrid, Barcelona ManU Bayern Munich ManCity PSG Liverpool Woolwich and Chelsea

When our results to June 2019 are published I expect we'll be in he same position, with the revenue loss associated with lower attendances compensated with from higher prize money from our CL run.

For the year to June 2020 it's clearly a guess but with revenues from NWHL which have a high corporate revenue stream, a decent CL run to say QF and a pick in revenues from non Spurs use of he stadium and some higher other commercial income, I'd expect us to get to about 6th or 7th - competing with PSG and Livrpool for those places, and importantly overtaking Woolwich and Chelsea in browse revenue terms.

So in 12 months time we will be better placed than Woolwich and Chelsea. In practice with Chelsea having a ban I'd expect to outspend both.

However worth noting that Real Madrid Barcelona, Manu, Bayern and Mancity will still have bigger revenues than Spurs and PSG and Liverpool will have comparable revenues so little chance of us spending significantly more than these.

One opportunity we have us that ManU are in a mess right now and it might well take 2 if not 3 TWs to sort themselves out, do whilst they will throw money at problems they will not be overly attractive to ambitious players ( no CL, no chance of PL for a couple of seasons etc) so we hope to be more attractive to players than them

I understand your argument and I agree to some extent that we have to spend big to compete. But it’s quite plain to see the reason we haven’t spent in 18 months is because of the stadium, not because anyone at the club lacks ambition.

Yes, we shouldn’t have been told that the stadium won’t impact spending power. But in the long run it’ll put our spending power on a far bigger level than its ever been.

I don’t want to sound like my Nan but it’s genuinely all for the greater good, and we’ll spend this window, there’s no doubt in my mind
Hope you are right. Otherwise I'd rather be back at WHL spending the money on players, not a stadium. I sometimes wonder if we have done this arse backwards

Bloody hell, are there any threads on this forum that don't descend into ridiculous arguments and name calling?! I work with special needs children, they behave better than some adults do here and those kids can barely control themselves!

We're supposed to be on the same side so can people grow up and start acting like it? Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves because you're making a fool of yourselves and ruining this forum for everyone else.
Well said

I don't get offended by language, the term cunt is a general slur, it's not something with a history behind it (as far as I am aware.)

The term retarded is literally used as a slur towards disabled people, you wouldn't use the N word to insult people either, both could be considered just "words" but their significance in history when that history involves discrimination is the differentiating factor here mate.

And no, I am not some social justice type thats offended by everything, I just believe that you shouldn't say things online to people that you wouldn't say to them in person.

Like you know, telling people to kill themselves or using language that would be considered hate speech under law.
Interesting point. Here in the States, blue collar people use"fuck" in almost every sentence. It's their main descriptive apart from"awesome" which seems to cover everything else. It's just a part of everyday language. Now, if you say "cunt", there's a deathly hush and a general air of disapproval.
It's the equivalent of atheist, socialist etc. Those are probably the three worst words in the American vocab.

Cunt is interchangeable with mate with my group... Got in a bit of trouble in Vegas because of it
