Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Let's be honest. A lot about scouting is being lucky.

If we signed Kante or Mahrez at the time Leicester did, people would be flipping a shit.

Being able to offer first team football in such circumstances is huge....

We're a notch up from being able to offer such opportunities these days and in the shitty positiom of having to find prime dosh for proven players now (albeit 'proven' merely meansing 70m for 1 decent year at midtable equivalent... eg N'Dom, GLC, AWB).

I am open to others opinions, I have listened and tried to understand where they are coming from but nobody has given me any reason to believe I shouldn't be concerned about the way we do business in regards to transfers.

You say "no one agrees with you" but that simply isn't true whatsoever, there is a handful of people on here that disagree with me, the same 5-6 posters, if you take a look around, on this forum and outside of this forum you will find that the general consensus in regards to Levy and transfers is one of frustration and annoyance.

So actually, the people disagreeing with me here is the contrarion view, I am trying to understand why people believe that suddenly, after years and years of behaving in a certain way, they think Levy and ENIC will suddenly change and go on a huge spending spree, we hear it every window and we get linked to all these quality players and it never materialises, the majority of our fans are wise to how Levy operates, some supporters just don't want to believe it.

I didn’t think the post that you wrote last night at 11.38 was all that negative but it got a lot of feedback.
I think it’s because some
I think liverpool will be a bit worse next year. City about the same. The other 3 all depends on who they keep & sign. & obviously Chelsea depends on who they make manager too. Basically a lot of uncertainty about the other 3. I expect Liverpool & City to be a level ahead of them again. We need 3 or 4 good signings to reach that level I think. We shall see...

I think Liverpool wont exceed 88 points next season. Im basing that on my hope that VAR will eliminate most of their dodgy penalty decisions & think it less likely they will benefit from goal keeper howlers.

63 million for Ndombele is nuts.

I want us to sign players as much as the next guy, but it's a slippery slope, and if we start making this our new norm we could end up like Leeds in no time.

If Levy offers 50 millions and the French Levy doesn't take it, we need to move on.
Move on to who exactly? Ndombele is exactly the player we need. The perfect Dembele replacement, even a better version due to his passing range. And he's only 23.

Nope, Ndombele is potentially the best young midfielder in world football, I rate him above De Jong and that is saying something. He has speed, power, a great passing range and excellent awareness.

He outplayed the Man City midfield during the CL campaign with Lyon. In today’s market £63m is almost a bargain considering the player we would be getting.

Also football today is nothing like it was when Leeds did what they did, the money rolling in is another level. With Levy around there is zero chance of ‘doing a Leeds’.

True, but if we ran the club like some want we feasibly could.

Yep - talk of signing players for 50 mil plus, like thats normal for us to do. Wouldn’t N + LC be in the top 25 or so most expensive transfers of all time?! LC had a poor game against Colombia, very one footed and not much pace about him. Obvs Poch knows best so not being a know-all c*nt, but even on LC’s YouTube highlights I don’t see anything that is £60m spectacular. I’m sure I could knock up a 5 minute video of Lamela for us that would look more impressive. I’m not adverse to a mega signing (or two) - I feel our top players need to see the club being ambitious at this stage more than I do as a fan tbh - but I hope we keep taking the odd punt on potential as well.

Sure we will although Sessegnon is kind of both potential but kind of guaranteed at the same time. I’d also imagine quite a few players will be out this summer, even the free ones free up wages so I think we can pull off a good window.

Ha ha

Yes, but only really Man Utd can be completely reckless (with their own) money.........but in a way the fact they don't have to worry about making mistakes is what makes them shit

Doing a Leeds is long gone for most Prem clubs, the amount of money pouring in and the availability of refinancing puts paid to that. However FFP is important, not that we should worry considering our prudence but that is a factor and hopefully FFP will show teeth with City’s dodgy practice.

Cracks me up

Lo Celso’s stock was so high...... til people watched him play

Bit harsh, Messi wasn’t great either, Argentina are like England of old, playing the best players not the best team. Lo Celso is not a winger but that’s what he was played as against Columbia or at least that’s what it looked like.

Whoever we pick up Poch will use wisely I feel.
