Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm sorry but £70 million is still a fuck load of money in modern football. A handful of clubs can spend that kind of money!

Yes Liverpool spent £67 million last summer on a goalkeeper last summer but supposedly one of the best in the world.

We won't do a Leeds though as we are not going into this spending money on the promise of CL football alone. That doens't mean that we should be frivolous with that kind of money. Spending it wisely is important.

Blinkered AND cobblers.....

Blob-blers.

No one is saying we shouldn't spend we are just realistic about our spending power with this ownership. I would hate to have a sugar daddy as would many others but that's different to not wanting us to spend.

Indeed... Sadly, you can post this over and over and the likes of scott scott and Incomplete_usernam Incomplete_usernam will ultimately discard it and continue to misrepresent this viewpoint.

We can find someone else like Lo Celso. Ndombele is a bit of a unicorn and is exactly what a Poch lineup needs.
This is very true. To be honest unless Betis cave I wouldn't be surprised if we walk away from the Lo Celso deal. Good player for sure, but he's simply not worth anything above 60 million.

If we fail to sign Ndombélé because of refusing to meet the price it will be downright shambolic though, no other way of putting it.

Are we talking about last year or now? I was content with managers and owners choice last year, would have been happy if they bought someone but if they felt their targets were not getable I understood their stance... Was even happier when I heard the de Jong stuff.

Depending on spend this summer and our cl run top 4 finish could be over a the moon the gamble paid off.
You got to remrmber people change their views based on what the club do. Last summer some said we need to buy but then when we didn't said it was the right thing to do. Anyway, say poch/levys targets aren't gettable this summer. You would probably be ok with that, right? In which case you're happy with us not spending. Or if you would be disappointed then we are on the same page.
Also Blanchflower just said
"But it's still a massive risk to spend like 20% of our turnover on one player!!!"
Which is a fair comment. But it does suggest some fans wouldn't want us to spend on him as they view it as a massive risk.

If we do spend a lot this summer , you & others are well within your right to feel upset with the club. But I think it will be a positive thing for our club.

Actually a lot were happy with us not spending last summer & agreed with it. & lots are now saying not to spend recklessly when I don't think any one wants levy & poch to make buys that they see as reckless.

What the fuck exactly do you want???

Virtually every post from you on the matter swings from "It's ok... Levy won't let us be reckless" to the next mocking his frugal nature and taking the piss out of people that appreciate the model we operate under..

I don't understand why people are so concerned with our finances, we are football supporters, not accountants, we aren't going to go broke and do a leeds like you say, I can't believe some people think that could happen to us.

Even if we spent £200m in a window and every single player flopped it's not going to make us do a leeds ffs.

People need to understand that every single transfer is a risk, from big money to small money, none are guaranteed to succeed, if we spent our entire life worrying about "what if" we would never move forward as a club, it's best we secure our targets that our manager wants and take that risk imo because the rewards could be massive.

....Because resources are finite.

Blowing 70m on the wrong guy leaves a hige dent unless you can actually afford "Spend like City" (tm).

Ignorant short-termism isn't the way to run a football club or any huge business.

If you think we’re bad, those troglodytes over at redcafe would have managed to bankrupt United at this point, which is basically impossible.

No doubt.... I'm fully aware it's not so much some clubs as some kinds of fans.

Also, look what the Gooners did to Auntie Wenger and his fabbled 200m rainy-day fund

I have a similar impression.... Every season there's a new swathe of young AMs one could get a bit fruity over.... More so that any other position... It's been that way for years now.

If the club keep on hitting targets and growing with no spend then I am as happy as if they do it while spending yes.

I think we need players, I think this year we have more flexibility but if they don't buy I will wait to see if they are proved right before I am disappointed, they have earned that right over the last 4 years.

Top man! ....And for the best part that's all that one can ask... Patience (enough to see how the cards fall) and to not burn the fucking world down the moment they don't like the look of something; acting like their PROJECTIONs are in already set in stone, bonafide fact.

& if we spend big?

Literally NO-ONE said that.
Hey man disagree all you want with my views about the transfers window. I truly don’t give a fuck. I don’t have an agenda. Levy and Enic are God’s for you. I see and respect.

Tottenham Hotspur the only club in the world were the true good fans are first economic experts and then but a far then football fans.
“What if we buy good but expensive players? NO NO. Then we can’t say to the others clubs we are the only ones doing the right way” :dembelelol:
