Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You get the feeling the clubs priorities at the moment are:
1) Ndombele
2) Ndombele
3) Resigning Eriksen/signing Lo Celso
4) Resigning Toby/signing young CB
4) Sessegnon
5) Everyone else (RB, AM, DM, F as needed based on outgoing players)

Seems practical to me..... Although I think in terms of necessity you could probably rank Sessengon at #5 too.

If we perform and keep growing yes, why wouldn't I? I care about the results and as long as we hit them will support the methods.

I like this team and manager, I think last year we performed poorly but I think that was a freak season.

I think we will continue to grow and trust the team, manager and owner, that's not the same as being happy what ever we do and I am surprised you got that from what I said.
Yeah but yours is all if we hit our targets. Like I will support it if it works out. No risk at all with that answer. I was more meaning without knowing how it will turn out. We can all say I will support whatever we do if we hit our targets. If we spend big & don't hit our targets? If we spend little & don't hit our targets?

Your views are one thing.

Maybe show me who said the statement you claim (twice) and we can go from there....?

If you don't have an agenda, why are you making up phantom 'quotes'? (Genuine question)

Grow up.

I think they have done a great job over the longer term. Doesn't mean to say I think they're perfect. Same goes for the manager.

Something tells me you may be a slight bit more considerate of Porto's financial muscle (or lack therof), so why is it so outlandish to you that Spurs can't afford to have an entirely care-free attitude towards their finances?

Any fan can sit and play fantasy football and pick a list of players they like...... At some point reality kicks in whether you find it 'oh so hilarious' or not.
Every summer the doing a Leeds falls in this topic. Don’t see the surprise?

I’d say 90% of the users wanting signings in this thread are asking for 2/3 quality players. Is that something reckless and that we don’t need? It’s too outrageous want to see the club spend 150M while counting to sell eriksen?

Levy done a pretty decent job. Not brilliant but pretty good. Last season the stadium delay and transfers comedy show was a failure. I guess nobody can deny that. That doesn’t take the fact of making a mid table clube a top 4 in 15 years as well.

I don’t even understand the Porto talks in here. Are you comparing the muscle of English football to the Portuguese? Or do you think saying Porto is a poor club makes my skin boil? Disappointed you went there nonetheless. Totally off topic

And the fantasy football comment applies to me because I want semedo and ndombele signed? Two players? For two places we are shit? If there’s something Im good it’s football. I’m not a video gamer fan.

Never had a personal problem with you. Or an agenda. But because i get along with guys like John Thomas, Scott or mindblown it’s easier to Stick me into the anti levy brigade. I never once said levy out or close

Not at all, mine is I trust the club as the have earned it.

Not sure what you mean "this hasn't been linked to anyone"?

It's a bit of a dubious comparison. They play on different sides and are slightly different types of "FB".

Atal's a right back / RWB (who has been linked to us amongst others I think) who played most of the season as a RWB in a 3CB system or as a RM or even as a WRF. He's great going forward, but not played in a back 4 much though, and Nice are a very pragmatic side, and as such his defending ability in a back 4, in a proactive team who want him pushed up all the time hasn't really been tested, yet. He's very quick, so shouldn't want for pace though.

Mendy's an orthodox Left Back( who's on his way to Real Madrid), played in back 4's most of the last 2 years, who might not have Atal's goal tally (or raw pace dribbling ability) but sees about 80% more ball than him, makes nearly twice as many key passes as him.

I'd have liked both of these at Spurs. But we're definitely not getting Mendy.

Spell check, I meant to say he but my iPad freaks out from time to time :s

Mendy I know is someone you have rated for a while so fair play for spotting him long before most knew who he was, I just think that Atal would add a really good option to the right kind of team so I'm surprised to see such a limited amount of media coverage in him and a possible move. Is he Premier League standard? No idea but I would take a punt on him over the right back options we currently have and see how he gets on.

Both great albums but prefer the bends.
It's either spend big or don't win titles.
Some are optimistic & think win titles but don't spend big. I think that's impossible.
If we did spend big & win the title, I like to think a lot of the 'anti big spending' people would get lost in the moment & be way too happy to care about how much we spent. But who knows.
Let’s not make more “jokes” our “comedy” sucks.

Every summer the doing a Leeds falls in this topic.

Yes... As you rightfully note, it's become a turn of phrases, but I repeat no-one has said we'll do a Leeds is we sign 1 player.

That assertion is pure BS on your part (twice!).

As for the rest....

Dude... Chilll.... Reading way too much into some of what I said.

You misconstrue my point about Porto... Finances are relative, whether you support Spurs, Porto or my local non-league club.... A clubs finances are finite.

I have no recollection who you want to specifically sign... My comment about fantasy football wasn't a direct accusation or even intended as a slurr. It's a general observation.... It applies to us all.... I have players in my head who I'd like my outlook is simply tat who I 'want' means very little in the grand scheme of things...

Nor did I bunch you in with anyone in the sense that you suspect.... You made what I beleive to be a false claim; I called you out.

I simply mentioned Scott because i felt you were both emplying the same childishness in your retorts at THIS specific time. (I have MB & JT both on ignore so I'm oblivious to any interaction you may have with them)

For what it's worth, I mentioned Atal back in October in the thread you started (Players worth keeping an eye on) after the first time a saw him:

I definitely think Atal would be worth a gamble, but the big caveat with him, as I said, is he's not played much as an orthodox RB - he pretty much took Pereira's role at Nice - he's played as a RWB and as an attacking right sided player, and is pretty similar to Pereira - who is great going forward but not always so great defending. Atal might be better at defending, not sure until he gets tested as an orthodox Rb in a back 4 that wants a lot of ball and exposes the FB's a lot.

Ok. Personally I think you are sitting on the fence. Not really asking you about trust. But about what you want us to do this summer. You have basically said you will be ok with either spending nothing or big. Which is fine but not a committed opinion. More of a " I trust the club to do what's right". Like a politician, non committal. Anyway, I think we have gone as far as we can with this little conversation.

Someone literally said us spending 65 mil on ndombele could see us going down a slippery slope and ending up like Leeds, and that we should spend 50 tops....

In the context of responding to a previous post saying how it doesn't matter if we over-pay presumably.

If we repeatedly find ourselves overpaying on a bunch of expensive duds it'll fuck us over, no?

And a new goldfish bowl?

This is a serious discussion, not a place to joke around. I find it interesting how if you criticise poch or kane & other players then it's not too bigger deal. But if you dare criticise levy then people get very angry, touche & offended. They are naturally more supportive of the chairman than the manager & players.
