People here have some weird obsession with ISCO.

Ceballos is being wasted at Real. I think he and 50 million pounds would be a fair deal.

We're not going to get 80 million for Eriksen. We're just not.

I'm guessing that such a cash + player deal would pretty much equate to £80m+ anyway....

Like I say, as long as our interest in the player is genuine, then it seems a reasonable deal.

Would you expect him to play AM or CM (6 or 8) for us?

Got a feeling Ceballos coming in would stop us getting one of our actual targets in (Ndombele or Lo Celso).

So for me its a pass, I can't see us bringing in 3 central midfielders, especially as none of them are out and out DM's that would replace wanyama/dier.

There's a lot of value to be milked out of these sorts of deals if you're the right sort of club with excellent scouting and a flexible manager (not sure we have either, no slight on Poch). The super clubs are really, really motivated to move their dead weight and keep the books balanced, and there are good players in there.

I know nothing about Ceballos though.
Aurier and Lucas has worked well enough. If Ceballos is ready to put in the work and Poch is willing to work with him it could be good. Depends on how much of a diva Ceballos is and not I guess.

So the quotes from Aulas were slightly out of context earlier. This is his exact quote on Ndombele leaving:

"In terms of the chronology, before accepting the transfer of Ferland Mendy to Madrid, we signed the young international U17 Belgian, Heritier Deyonge, from PSV Eindhoven. What I can say to you is if you see a very good box-to-box midfield youngster arrive, in the coming days, then there will be a chance that Tanguy Ndombele leaves, but for the moment, we have not received offers of the level that we feel is a just price."

Make of it what you will, but sounds to me like he wants his replacement in first.
Can we sell him Victor N'Wanyama

Yeah, and like, if PSG sold us Lucas straight up for 25M, and they would buy Eriksen for let's say 70M, they might very well do a deal something like 55M + Lucas for Eriksen. 10M in surplus value just for being able to be a one-stop shop to keep their books in order.

For whatever reason the fans and the press on the receiving side look at it like you're doing them a favor and taking on a lesser player PLUS the lower purchase price, but that's a dumb way to look at it, so long as the player you're getting is one you want.

Exactly, we need Ndombele plus another so we do not run Winks and Sissoko into the ground for a second straight season.

No i think it's about getting the most value for Eriksen.

You're not going to get that with straight cash. Might as well take a promising youngster Poch can mold

It's not like we're deep at CM

No, I get that....

I just suspect that (on spec) N'D, Winks, Sissoko & Ceballos @ CM vs Dier (and possibly Skipp) @ DM is lacking balance depth wise.

I guess what I'm asking is would Ceballos AND N'Dombloke be overkill when we could us the extra dosh to go large getting a direct replacement for CE instead (eg Coutinho rather than roll the dice on GLC @70m)...?

This is key to any perceived value otherwise one is just under-paying for a player they don't want.....
