You called it a mickey mouse trophy of course it's deriding it,

My point in using the term was to illustrate that as a cup it is commonly derided; reflecting a broader perception of said cup in the modern game when compring it to other more prestigeous honours. (If this wasn't entirely apparent, then I'll hold my hands up and own it....)

no it's not an overstatement we beat Man city, we thrashed Woolwich and came back from a goal down to beat the chavs to win the thing. I was hoping for a 08 performance in the CL final but it wasn't to be.

Alternatively, I'd say it was the second most prestigious cup victory of the 3 we've enjoyed since the trophies became scarcer in N17.

Tho again, I emphasise, I'm not looking to play anything down from my own FAN perspective (we're talking about PLAYER perception here remember!).

I've seen reports that a) Levy was pissed about CE going public with his desire to leave and b) that Levy wanted £140m i've not seen anything else of note.....

You've flipped from "we're not looking to sell", to "no-one wants to buy him", to "we'll only accept a cash only deal".

What reports are you talking about.. Hit re-set and go from there if you prefer.

What evidence? You assuming that he had a below par season because of his contract situation doesn't seem like real evidence to me.

My main bone of contention here isn't so much seasons's performance as it is his head being elsewhere for the final... His comments and the timing of them back this up.

The fact that his form dipped noticeably last time there was a contract impasse bolsters such concerns further... Why wouldn't that be a factor all over again and in turn beg legitimate questions about his whole season?

My exact words were I'm not bothered because I'm not holding to a different standard than other people who work. There are millions of people who, when they are at work are committed and work hard but at the same time look for a more forfilling job with higher pay, benefits etc. He has given 6 years service, I'm pleased with that service.

So you WE'RE the one that brought the analogy into play then?

Grrrreat.

Needless denial on your part then.

Keeps them speculating= feeding the media something that you are against.

"Keeps them speculating" meaning they'll speculate and print said speculations anyway, but gives them as little as possible.... You're also missing the point that we're comparing a man held-bent on succeeding with this team whilst being trolled by the press on a bi-weekly basis vs someone that in his OWN words fancies a "new challenge" (yet still could have delined to show his hand given how little good it stoood to do him).

I don't think he's handed anything on a silver platter but then I'm not as against him as you seem to be.

So now I have an agenda against CE specifically???? ....Now you're just being silly!!!

I've already reference myself being pissed at Rose (and in other discussions, Defoe) for similar in the past.

Look at it this way. CE may have enjoyed a little more benefit of the doubt from me post CL final for his performance levels over the past season if he HADN'T spoken out in the manner and timing that he did..... It's not like I'd been calling him out for having an outright shite season before the CL final came around..... He's fed my suspicions and I'm far from the only one on this front.[/quote]

£55m is mental money. He hasn't even had a full international call up yet. It's big money regardless of his potential. Would be a world record fee for a full back mate.

I'd have to say Manure are the only team more desperate than us to sign literally anybody right now. Being who they are, they will always pay top shelf. I'd imagine both sides think paying top dollar is the way to go. For the seller it is good business and for manure is a "statement of intent/wheel".

55 million for Wan-Bissaka is beyond crazy. He might end up being the next Dani Alves, but at this stage he literally only has one year top flight experience (at a mid-table club).

Walker was a tried and tested full international with a solid 6-7 seasons under his belt plying his trade at a team finishing in the Champions League places. Wan-Bissaka has 1 full season under his belt playing for a team that battles relegation who lose more games than they win.

Young = "could serve us for 10 years" = premium.
Older = "experienced"/"entering prime" = premium.

Another symptom of a fucked market. :llorishuh:

I say lets bring in Crouchy on a free to replace Nando anyway.
Only 38, probably be winning headers into his 50s.
😂

Mate I understand that you have respect for Eriksen, I think we all do to a certain degree, especially what he’s done for us on the field.

But his quotes aren’t that of someone that hopes to commit to us, you can’t ignore what’s staring you in the face. He does NOT want to be here. Anyone who does not want to be here should be moved on as signing for us is just a second option to him. There is no way he can be fully happy and play at his best if he stays regardless of what contract he signs.

He has said from his first ever season here when asked about being at spurs for a long time:

“everybody has a plan in there head of where they want to get to, and I have mine.”

We are a stepping stone to him. Get rid, thanks for your service Christian, I don’t begrudge you anything, but bye.

We need players that buy in to the new project.
I just think that's a bit naive. Bar a few players like Kane, most would take the chance to go to a legendary club like Madrid, win stuff and get a much higher salary.

That's true Madrid don't go more than a season or two without winning anything the board and fan's just don't allow it and they are the most attractive team for most player's.

Bit like Walker though... More than a little contradictory blowing a good chance of a major trophy by whilst you're dreaming of potentially winning trophies at another club in the future..
