IMO the only true/viable DM we have is Dier.... Can be improved upon.
Not sure Poch thinks we actually need a strict DM player and a strict CM player, think he's going back to the idea of playing two very capable CM's who can both defend and pass/attack - that's why Ndombele is his favourite. Winks was played last season as a DM and although that's not his natural role, he was fine.
Play something like a Ndomele/Winks combo next season and against probably all but ManCity and Liverpool in PL we'd take total control of CM. Poch then needs to figure out the formation to tackle those two sides.
Think the days of a pure DM are dying, and there are few good ones we can go after even if we wanted one

It was tongue in cheek mate. But to be fair I only ever watch them in WC and I can’t remember him doing much of anything.
The WC before last he carried them to the final (special moments rather than full games is the player he is now) and without Higuain doing a Higuain would have been his tournament.
Argentina are a car crash, aguero would have been a better example... Looks pap for them.
I don't think you'd want him as the sole "defensive" CM.
I think he is much more of a pure CM, not an out and out "defending" or "attacking" type.
I'd like to see him paired with Sissoko more than Winks. Winks/Ndombele seems a bit lightweight to me, especially against top sides. I'd rather have two physically robust players like Sissoko/Ndombele patrolling the CM area. I rate Ndombele more than Winks and see them as playing in pretty much the same role.
Winks/Sissoko/Ndombele would be an awesome CM 3 though, just sucks that we'd likely have to bench Dele to do it.
Heresy, I know. Despite all that, I still love Winks and want him to succeed here very much.
