Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I reckon £60m gets him but knowing Aulas and knowing the panic stages of the market and insane money with the likes of Real Madrid & Man U etc I wouldn't be surprised if someone else dangles a little more than £60m under his nose.

Aulas knows with a club like Tottenham that we won't fuel his cash flow like others did, hence him comments earlier in the summer about who he'd rather sell to and us not being one of those teams he mentioned.
Aulas x levy is the football chairman’s of Randy savage x hulk hogan

Aulas + Levy = Legion of Gloom :avbfacepalm:

I'm only claiming an outside perspective... I was also suggesting it isn't as good as it could be.....
Then my suspicions are similar but your statement was ambiguous as to which side was 'dubious', the folks viewing our recruitment with a jaundiced eye or the actual work. Here, you suggest it's the work which is not typical of your stance with matters.

Bothers me too.. I understand it's harder to promise 'hot' kids gametime now, but the outside view of our scouting has been dubious for a few seasons....
You can see how that could easily be misconstrued by the reading public. But now that you have cleared that up I admit to very similar concerns and views.

I see you've just 'liked' my subsequent post where I provided a little more detail.
I did. I don't consider the source I consider the sentiment. And, like you,I also believe we missed a great opportunity to build and not have to re-build. Unfortunate.

I'm more talking in terms of when we were in a position to make the kind of hyped kid signings that BVB, Monaco, Sevilla were associated with. Once we had that extra draw of CL.... We all but stopped, now I read about prospects on here and watch them snapped up by the likes of Leicester, Lyon or BVB (still).
Yes, I 'like' this post but I didn't 'agree' with it (entirely). I got no time for 'hype'. Parodoxically, I would feel somewhat reassured (about scouting if alternatives weren't cheapies for sake of saving money) if I heard names off the beaten path. I feel nothing that Poch wasted all summer going after De Jong who was never gonna be a longterm solution for us. It was ego and there were others around that could have helped us.

Show me that a player can run and move about, solid grasp of the fundamentals, and is coachable and I'm in. Most 'hyped' kids are lacking because they've come up on the back of 'physicals' that outstripped their underdeveloped peers. They get found out when they can no longer run by or push around men.

More haste m'thinks, Mr Hawkeye. ;)
No idea what you're talking about.

Nice post, thanks.

Utd and Liverpool are the biggest clubs by far, and is reflected here.
What I find staggering is how we have managed to muscle in towards their level with sustainable growth.

You are right it’s certainly on the face of it a hell of an achievement. But to be realistic we fell behind due to chronic mismanagement in the late 80’s and until 2001. And I do mean chronic. By tradition Spurs were always a massive club, but we had a lost decade under Alan Sugar and a rocky road before him too. Prior to say 90/91 Spurs were every bit as “big” as anyone of the other big clubs. ENIC have done well to put us back where we actually should always have been ( I feel )

30 years ago Spurs bought Gary Lineker ! 31 years ago Spurs purchased Gazza. In context that shows how big Spurs “were” roll forward just over ten years and we had Andy fucking Booth on loan, smacking the cross bar from close range.

Part of the problem, I believe, is Poch stopped wanting this type of player.
I said it last summer and it's still scary. To be resorting to and relying on individual brilliance definitely says something about your coaching. Before going after this type of player I would like to see 10 outfield actual footballers. There were/are many, many, many areas for marginal gain in our team before putting the icing on the cake.

I wonder if Poch was pressured because he knew this was the end of a chapter and wanted to win something for the guys that brought him/them/us so far. If so then I have no problems with it. If it's a general shift towards galacticos (in the making) then I'm not so enthused.

Ultimately though I think it's foolish to neglect these kind of players. Poch clearly has a hunger to manage at a top football club and to take us and him to that next level but if he chooses to overlook all avenues in the market Levy will soon get irate at him doing so.

I think one £50m player and a hot prospect per summer moving forward should he fine as long as we keep the nucleus together. We are looking at maybe 10-15 years of forking out £50m in interest and loan repayments so a budget of £50m + anything made in player sales, taking our overall outlay to £100m each year is fair enough based on all things considered. Some wheeling and dealing needed but it seems like Poch has a taste for Lobster and Oysters when he needs to settle for a Pork Scratching here and there.

I'm sure he'd rather sell him outside the league, but he just thinks PSG are more likely to cough up more dough.

Seems to me that Aulas is literally doing all he can to stir up interest and get a bidding war started. The issue for him is that I reckon Ndombele is 2nd or 3rd choice for most clubs looking to acquire their prime targets at the moment, whereas at Spurs, the ones who will offer less he's our prime target. I see this one running for a while before we see any developments unless we move to pull our offer away and it develops into a game of who blinks first. Hopefully Tanguy feels swayed by us showing the interest we have above all other clubs with how things seem.

I have been thinking about this for a while and it may seem a little unambitious. This transfer window could be our chance to move above Woolwich and the Chavs for a good long time. Yes, I know we should be looking higher, but having suffered for the last 25 years to those cunts we should use our current power as Champions League finalists to get some real quality in.

Let's make ourselves the dominating force in London and then we can look above us. It's no small thing to make ourselves better than the other cunts who have (in my lifetime) been superior to us. Let's take this moment to build, get beyond them and then let's focus on the so-called "top two".

Get it right this summer and we will be a real force going forward. Fuck it up and more of the same I feel.
