Would love Ndombele but how much more can we realistically spend if he's going for 50-65m?
Net? Not much, maybe less than zero. But this is the guy we need in the position we need. Start there.

Poch hyped up CCV to the absolute max. Nearly sure he said he could be one of the best in Europe in a few years? Crazy stuff. We'll see. It's the romance of the academy I guess. It's the same with Onomah and Carter-Vickers. CCV played left sided central defense at Swansea. Onomah at shef wed I'm not sure about. I'm looking for a forum for some feedback. He was set. Goodness knows what happened to him though?
Found one....

Josh Onomah

Those got us to a champions league final. I agree with everything except the use of the word desperate. An upgrade on paper isn't always an upgrade in play. We know what we got and so on.No.
Ndombele would be an amazing signing, potentially our best ever, but he's still only plugging a gap in the squad that should have been filled last Summer. We still desperately need a new right back, we desperately need a new defensive midfielder, and desperately need a new attacking option. And that's before we factor in sales of Toby or Eriksen.
Getting in Ndombele would be an amazing piece of work by the club, but if he's all that's brought in this Summer it'll be another failed window.
Who is it? I'm living in an Igloo in the North of Sweden fighting Polar bears and wolf. Don't have much time for TV
That's not true is it - I thought you lost that if you formally hand in a transfer request rather than say you want to leave.GFFN are reporting that Ndombele has asked to leave Lyon
Effect is he is not entitled to a 5% of transfer fee as a bonus.
If true it's a big step forward
Reading that thread, a couple of things stuck out; their manager was shit and he was injured for long periods. They are thinking £6m is way too much but see his potential. It's very similar to us and NDombele in some respects, albeit at a lower level.Poch hyped up CCV to the absolute max. Nearly sure he said he could be one of the best in Europe in a few years? Onomah is just a classic case of thinking he'd made it before he had IMO. If he had the same mentality as Winks for example, he'd probably be in and around the first team by now.
If we just ended up signing Ndombele but was able to keep hold of all of our current squad bar the ones we want rid of would we take that right now? Toby & Eriksen stays and only Ndombele as the guy coming in anyone? Realistically I think I'd take that right now even if it isn't enough to kick us on.
Ndombele comes in, Eriksen extends and Toby opts against a move for another season. I think we'd be set up pretty well seeing as that midfield hole gaped for a season.

I questioned the exact financial implications of a transfer request, as players wanting to join the likes of City, Utd, Madrid are more likely to take a hit for the long run - but we don't have that status, trophy haul or to a lesser extent wages. Didn't see anything that addressed it - just plenty of LEVY needs to pay the money. Again not much about Aulas needing to drop the fee considering he is trying to exploit our financial situation, and the lack of competition. Selling to the highest bidder isn't a thing - it's sell to that club posting record profits for as much as you can possibly get. That's not true is it - I thought you lost that if you formally hand in a transfer request rather than say you want to leave.
Ndombele would/could be a great signing but one player enough is not enough - if players are assumed to average a 10 year career at the top from say age 22 to 32 then with 20 odd players in the squad we generally need to add 2 players every season
Of course we could get one of those from the academy but in reality only Winks has come through from the academy in the last few years, so most years we need to buy two players in ( but hope Poch can bring more academy players through).
So answer has to be a resounding "we need two or more" to keep a good squad topped up for the future - especially if we are to keep Alderweireld and Eriksen for one more year only.
Personally still hoping for 4 to 6 including youngsters such as Clarke.
If we get Lo Celso, Ndombele, and Clarke I will be very satisfied.
He's gone isn't he?
(yes I know it's his birthday still seems odd though)
It really is incredible that if you're a youth player under Poch, and you go on loan, that's basically your Spurs career done and dusted.
If you look at the list of youngsters that were highly regarded in his time that have gone on loan - CCV, Onomah, Edwards, Harrison, Sterling. If we're being honest none of them really have a hope in hell of making it for us now.
One has to wonder is it a bit of a blind spot from Poch to discard young players so soon, or were they just overrated dross to begin with? Could be somewhere in between.

Is a player not worth what clubs are prepared to pay? Yet it doesn't sound like there's a bidding war going on - just a deal being negotiated. Saying you 'want to leave' could mean anything really. Just bullshit from cunts 99% of the time. I find it hard to believe any half decent player would be content spending their career at Lyon, but stating the obvious often gets links clicked. Maybe he needs to go full Berbatov / Modric, then we get him for 20 million on deadline day.
Then if he doesn't look like a ballon do'r contender within 3 games, everyone cal call Levy a twat for getting ripped off for a shit panic buy like Sissoko.
Not really, just buttering up the fans for when we sell him and letting others know he is looking to sell.I'm assuming Aulas had received a formal transfer request - be odd if it were an off the cuff remark from Ndombele for Aulas to announce it in a press conference
