Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We are three days almost to the minute from going into the new season, weaker than we left the last. Totally unacceptable.
Weak at right back, weak at left back, no cover for Kane (lesser issue I think with Son and Moura in mind) and we need another attacking midfielder. This is all assuming Eriksen, Toby and Rose STAY. If they go, another CB is needed and another midfielder is needed.
Foyth and Alli injures; Dier, Davies and Aurier unfit.
All this, after record profits; our chairman saying we’d have a war chest; the manger voicing his concerns. It’s all depressing, really.
I can see us not making any further signings, and eriksen being sold after he window shuts. Another good net spend year for Levy.
This project, stadium included - and I salute the board for it - is just fattening up the value of the club for a sale, at some point down the line. It’s a joke. And when we loose our manager; drop down the table, the Levy apologists will finally realise who was/has been for some years, been on the right side of the argument.
We stay calm🤯 for now, the next 3 days could be pure quality.....
But you are right, even myself who backs Levy more than he questions him is starting to get fucking worried right about now, with at least 4 serious weakness to address it’s not looking good...... But let’s give old father Levy🎅🏻 the benefit of the next few days to hatch some eggs🐣.....before we burn the fucker👹

Well now. If you are so easily pleased...when we eventually win something, can't you easily imagine how you will get an erection that will be impossible to get rid of?

I did acknowledge it would be nice (understatement!), just this idea that the outside world needs to validate this shit for us doesn't sit well with me. I said here the other day; look how little the CL win meant for Liverpool outside of their fanbase... No-one gave a fuck and just adopted the narrative of "ah, bet they'd have swapped it for the league:.... The game's in a mess.

...But to your choice of words, if it was so "easy" then why isn't everyone doing it?

Equally, does it all mean nothing to you now too?

We didn't even get to the final in 2010/2011, but why have I got such glorious memories of bossing the group stages, tearing Inter apart at WHL and our heroic away win vs AC Milan?

Similarly, why will I never forget owning Real at Wembley or battering BVB 4 times in 2 years... Ditto, scaring the shit of of an allegedly un-breachable Juve at the Allianz and obviously the hyper-drama of this years away ties vs City & Ajax.

Sure a trophy t'boot wouda been nice, but I honestly couldn't give a fuck if some pundit or snotty little cunt on twitter maintains no recollection of these moments whatsoever as the years pass... I shared them with friends and family and they are mine forever regardless of some poxy sentiment about 'the history books'.
Completely fair point. I have plenty of fond memories of individual games and excellent cup runs. Now imagine the feeling of winning the PL, or the CL. Tell me that won’t be a better feeling than the times you named above. Forget the history, think about the pride and the happiness for you, for all of us, for our club.

I’ve grown up with ‘To dare is to do’ resonating through my brain watching spurs. We dared to dream in the CL last season, and I loved it. Never have I been more emotional watching us make our way to the final. Now it’s time for Levy to do, and put us back in that CL final better than before. Liverpool spent big and did it. The board know what’s needed, but they won’t dare to do it.

Serious weaknesses, suspensions and now injuries mounting (Foyth now out for a month). What does it take to stir Levy into action ......jump leads ?

Well I suppose in any title race, you hope that the team/s above drop points. It was 5 points difference for a while, and they had some tough fixtures. But agreed bizarre season.

Nonetheless, my main point and question was do we think we’re in a better position to challenge for the title now than we were 2016/17? With the right business over the last few transfer windows, I believe we could have been. Not so sure now..

If you look at Poch team selection over he last 2 or 3 seasons, the surprise has always been that most of the players were already at Spurs before Poch arrived - so whilst Poch has undoubtedly improved them his acquisition of new players since he has been at Spurs is definitely s mixed bag.

I'd suggest that Kane, for example improved a lot over the first 2 or 3 years under Poch but not much since, and the same with other players. So in total the squad has not improved that much in recent seasons as too few of the acquisitions have made it to the first team.

So I'd blame a failure to buy good players not over the last 2 or 3 seasons but all the seasons that Poch has been here.

This TW I've been pleased to see a combination of buying top rated players (Ndombele) some top rated youngsters (Clarke) and possible progression of youngsters (Parrott, White Tanganga) and I hope it works better than TWs even 4 or ,5 years ago - perhaps one of our best buys in that period was Dele who Poch was not involved in his selection.

Poch is a great coach but I have seen no evidence he's good at buying players (same as Southampton where he bought Osvaldo for the second time - Southampton had to cancel his contract at great cost,)

Going leftfield.... Steven Segal, maybe? ....Michael Bolton?

At CB?

At this point in the window, we know we all would (as a martial arts coach I would, jokes aside)

Like Leicesters 'legal' defending when they won the Prem...

Like I just said to Five:

Truth... I want the league. Will spending 100m in the next couple of days make it any more of a truly realistic prospect... Contentious.... Both sides of that argument are thoroughly represented here and all over the internet.

If Eriksen, Rose, and Toby stay, the only thing we really need is a RB, which seems to be the only position we're not in the market for.

Not saying Eriksen, Rose, and Toby staying is what's best for the club, but it takes 3 to tango, and it's where we are right now.

Honestly if we don’t sign anyone else or at the very least announce a new contract for eriksen I’m gonna be pretty disappointed with the window. Ndombele is a great talented but a talented needed a year ago and immensely more after dembele leaving us for good

We get Eriksen to a new deal and sign Sessengon then it's a solid 7.5 or 8 out of 10 for me, 10 would be getting Lo Celso to.

However we don't sign anyone else or get Eriksen to a new deal it's like a 4/10 did the bare minimum we had to and just hoped Poch could work more magic

In what kind of a fucked up world does it take three to tango?

Two! It fucking takes TWO to tango. It's a couple's dance, not a menage a trois.
