Really not sure how the financials work at first sight, but maybe there is a way.....

Don't think we will do s loan without an option to buy.

Countinho is rumoured to be on £230k PW, so even if Barcelona pay all or something towards his wages whilst he's on loan to us, we will not want to pay that going forward if we buy him.

His buy out free reputed to be down to £80m (Barca bought him for £130m).

But would Spurs want to buy a 27 year old for that kind of money as he will have little sell on value iat the end of a 5 year contract.


Is there a deal to be done with Eriksen going to Barcelona for £80m with new wages of say £150k PW and Barcelona selling Countinho to us for the same £80m but also giving Spurs a lump sum of say £50m to subside Countinho s wages in his contract with Spurs down to a more realistic say £180k PW. Or something like that.

Barcelona get a player not too disimilar to Countinho on a far lower wage packet, Eriksen gets to Spain and Spurs hopefully get Countinho on something like £180k PW which just about fits into Spurs wage structure for 5 year contract - having worked with Poch before.

A more seasoned, cynical Tottenham-trained eye would have seen that we weren't actually trying to buy any of these players, the important thing was that we looked as if we were.
