Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Saw him play for Italy vs Ireland U21's late last year and he wasn't all that impressive on scale. As in, he was obviously really good but I expected more, and a few adventurous passes he tried went askew.

Seen him twice since then and he was unreal. Best player in a useless team. Expect to see him at one of the big Italian sides this summer.

I kid you not, I'm translating something for a hairdressing trade fair. It's about how to style a man bun this summer.

It's going to happen, isn't it?

Is that a bald spot I see.....?????? That should knock a few mil off his value.

It doesn't matter what Marcotti says, because he doesn't offer any evidence to give weight to his claim.

Our failure to sign Batshuayi was said to be the straw that broke the camel's back for Mitchell.

Liverpool signed Mane on the 28th of June 2016.
Liverpool signed Wijnaldum on the 22nd of July 2016.
Chelsea signed Batshuayi on the 3rd of July 2016.
Mitchell tendered his resignation on the 9th of August 2016, by which time we had only signed Janssen and Wanyama.
The transfer window closed on the 1st of September 2016.

I have posted this previously (but maybe elsewhere not in here) but here is a link to the scout 7 podcast - episode 14, where Rob Mackenzie (who was our head recruitment analyst under Mitchell - who resigned with him - who we had pinched from Leicester) talking about how they scouted and analysed the signing of Janssen - who we then signed on 12 June 2016 - nearly a month before Batshuayi signed for Chelsea.

This is MacKenzie talking about the profiling of Janssen.

I honestly think your notion of Batshuayi being the straw that broke the camels back is bollocks. If you scour the internet you'll find plenty of theories - I read one that said it was that Levy didn't want to pay for Njie and Nkoudou. I read the usual "Levy's tinkering" but I also read that it was believed Mitchell doesn't like to stay long in his jobs (around 2 years) and that he'd left to go to another job. Maybe he'd been tapped up and that's why Levy forced him to sit out his contract on gardening leave? Which is what we did to get him. Do you not think that if they'd had a real bust up over something transfer related Levy would have just let him leave ?

Based on the statements from Mitchell, it seems he is leaving for another club for whatever reason, and there’s no begrudging him for that. His spells at each of his individual clubs have been around two years, and he’s been with Spurs for about that long.

I am categorically not ruling out anything, but if Mitchell thought he was coming here to blow the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool out the water with transfer dealings then that's pretty daft on his part. And I do not believe that. I also do not think it was Batshuayi (we were never going to pay 40m for a back up striker).
