Oh how times have changed. £15.8m. Callum Wilson will probably cost more than that.
Inflation has killed football. PSG meeting Neymar's buyout clause, Liverpool flinging £75m for a goalkeeper and United flunking £80m on Maguire has ruined the market.

I thought this season may be different, but with City already spending £40m on Ake it seems I was wrong.

or it could be like the much loved Moussa dembele, who took 4 seasons to really become the player that spurs fans like to pretend he was the entire time that he was here.

Lol what?

His very first season with us he had 44 appearances, which was the most he had in any season with us. He was by far our most consistent midfielder in a season in which we missed top 4 by a point.

Nobody pretends he was good the entire time...more like some fans pretend he wasn't good to cover the fact that they didn't rate him the first couple seasons.

Jose didn't sell Salah... wanna know why? Because he was sacked before Salah even finished his loan.

he froze out the best player in the country, why do people act like this is made up. Listen to what KDB says himself and how confused he was that he wasn't playing.
Because the reason KDB requested to leave is Courtois and him had a huge spat over a girl, Courtois basically fucked KDB misses

A simple KDB Courtois Google search will prove it

He was good in his first season for us (no where near the level he was at in 2016), but some people talk of Dembele as if he was this brilliant player his whole tenure.

He was AWFUL in his second season here. But then we were managed by Sherwood for half of it - and he was pretty bang average in Pochettino's first season too.

What I remember from Dembele between 2013 - 2014 was that he flattered to deceive. Was very safe with what he did and got subbed off early in a lot of games. Didn't add to the team with goals or assists. There's posts on this forum alone in the Dembele thread with people happy to sell him in 2014. Literally a year before he became the star player people remember of him.

He was good with Sandro in 2012-13 and was exceptional with Wanyama in 2016-17.

Nothing will stop these clubs spending certainly ambitious ones, only a few like us will use it as a way of reducing the spend.
I will more than happy if Jose even gets top six again at this rate.

It's so funny when people think they know something but are talking out of their arse

KDB wrote an article HIMSELF explaining how Jose called him into his office and called him out

He literally said to Mourinho's face: 'I feel like the club doesn’t really want me here. I want to play football. I’d rather you sell me.'

There's interviews out there where he talks about how shocked he was he wasn't playing. But yeah mate, go on, he fucked his misses, that must be the reason hahahaha

Pretty much agree with most of this. But my point is basically the people who wanted him sold in 2014 were wrong. It's not a case of revisionist history...he wasn't garbage in his first couple years, and discussions to sell him were just outrageous.

He was always good, just wasn't until 15-16 he became the best CM in Europe.

So he asked to leave then..... :)

Pretty much agree with most of this. But my point is basically the people who wanted him sold in 2014 were wrong. It's like the fans who said Kane was a donkey in 2012 (me included). We were flat out wrong.

Meh - I wouldn't have been sad if we sold him in 2014 at the time. He looked far off being that guy who dominated Man Utd at Old Trafford for us 2 years prior and I questioned whether he'd maintain the fitness to keep up with Pochettino pressing and gruelling sessions.

Pochettino just didn't have a clue how to play him - I'm so glad Mason and Bentaleb both got injured which pretty much forced Poch to play Dembele deeper because we got 2 glorious years out of him. But I also think credit has to go to Dembele too in that he WANTED to stay here, he came back from pre-season in 2015 looking leaner than ever and never looked back.

It's going to be all or nothing with Tanguy. I think he'll end up being our biggest flop ever, or he'll end up as good if not better than Dembele. If he can play 30-40 games next season he will be great.
