I didn't know that. Bad news.

I heard a lot about Çelik during the 2018-19 season (his best so far). He did well playing behind Pepe. He seems to be good on the ball and he is known for solid defensive numbers. I found this grafic very interesting considering what we need from our RB - passes into the final third, progressive distance, and again, defensive qualities. I also believe that he is good at crossing, which is not measured there.

If you could speak more about his qualities and problems, I'd like to hear.
I watched a lot of Lille last season. In a nutshell, I would say he is a decent footballer but a poor defender. I couldn't tell you how many times I saw him roasted. On the basis of his lack of pace and agility alone, I think he would be a terrible fit for us/PL football.

Which of the Lille players that we’ve been linked to impressed you the most?

Conte seems to be having some issues with Inter and there are rumors he could jet for Juve. That’d certainly dampen those Skriniar talks I’d imagine.

Coutinho rumors have also returned. Still not sure how that can happen or if I want it to happen. But tbh GLC, Dele, Countinho, Ndombele as our attacking mids is pretty impressive.

Looks like PEH or nothing, its probably going to be nothing. They can just keep him for one more year and just use him for back up.

£15m during a pandemic is a lot of money for a club like Southampton to turn their noses up to.

According to Transfermkt, they’ve only ever spent £7m more on top of that figure on any player, so you’re looking at a huge slab for them to be missing out on for what would essentially be a bench warmer

The numbers suggest that he’s beaten very rarely, so either you saw him on a bad day or have too high expectations. Going through his stats, he’s a strong defender, good passer, but doesn’t carry the ball much.

What probably stops anything from happening before Europa league kicking off are the reports of PEH wanting to join Spurs. It takes some of the impetus away from an early move for both clubs for different reasons.

Southampton are rich as hell and not some poor league one team. They've sold players like Vvd and Mane for big big money.

Everton are clearly interested and willing to pay 20or more, no way we get this down much lower.

He is only on the bench due to his transfer, otherwise he'd start over Romeu.

You miss my point.... in their history they have only ever spent just a further £7m on top of the rumoured £15m we are looking to spend so in reality even though they have made money on sales in in the past, a further £15m is good money should they want to invest in new players.

As for being on the bench, he will only be due to his transfer desires yes but ultimately would they want to have a £15m asset for one season to sit on the bench or £0 for him in 9 months time. £15m will be good money for them during a pandemic, far better than £0 which it will be next season for a player seemingly set on Tottenham and Tottenham only.

Southampton made a £39.7m loss last year, leaving their new assets standing at £59.7m overall. £15m adds a further 25% onto their asset total, it’s more than you realise pal. Very good club but are limited compared to others and the Hojbjerg money will help them and their ability to reinvest.
